The Energy Department is once more deciding what kind of appliances are good for you. Like the “standards” the federal government imposed on light bulbs, toilets, washing machines and other essentials, the rules are all about taking choices from consumers and requiring them to buy machines that don’t work or don’t work as well as they once did. On Monday, the Obama administration published new rules that will make microwave ovens less efficient and more expensive. It’s in the service of the global-warming scam.

No one in the feminist community in the United States condemns this. Europe, too. Why is that?

The unnecessary burdens imposed on America by Obamacare have been known for some time and discussed at length here at The Real Revo. Obama’s Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act has real-world consequences that are just beginning to be felt. One of the most predicted and easily foreseen result has been the reduction of part-time employee. Darden Restaurants and Regal Cinemas both announced that part-time employees would be limited to 28 hours and other companies have done so more stealthily. Walmart has a de facto hiring freeze on full-time employees and limited hiring of part-time employees. Home Depot might have a hiring freeze, but I’ve never been able to find an employee there to ask.

But, Obamacare’s  effects aren’t limited to private companies. Small governments are subject to the same requirements and having the same reactions, resulting in fewer hours for part-time employees with city or school jobs.

Phillipsburg, Kan.: “School administrators here say they are alarmed and confounded by the looming new costs they face with the implementation of the Affordable Care Act,” according to the Kaiser Health Institute News Service. Chris Hipp, director of a Kansas special education cooperative, warned that ObamaCare’s costs “could put us all out of business or change significantly how we do business,” adding that “we are not built to pay full health benefits for noncertified folks who work a little more than 1,000 hours a year.”

For some part-time employees, Obamacare means a reduction in paychecks by $3000 and still no insurance coverage. Low-wage, low-education citizens will have to get two jobs to get enough to survive and still won’t qualify for insurance. If they are young and single, they’ll pay up to 150% more for private insurance through Obamacare-mandated insurance exchanges that have yet to be built and which many insurance companies have announced they’ll avoid.

What this means for you and me is that there will be fewer people working less hours in local government to take care of the things that we deal with most often: community roads, schools, parks, fire and police departments, etc.  So, the next time you hit a pothole or see overflowing trash bins at the park or wonder why there are fewer cops on the road, thank Obama and the Democrats.

How badly has Obama caved in order to get this meeting? Besides paying for the new Taliban HQ they agreed to stop demanding the Taliban quit supporting AlQaeda, and then there are these concessions. This from Fars news:

The founder of the Taliban, Mullah Omar, has been in hiding since the 2001 US-led invasion of Afghanistan.

Washington removed Mullah Omar’s name despite its continued allegations that the Taliban and Osama Bin Laden were behind the September, 11 attacks in the US. Mullah Omar was Bin Laden’s staunchest ally and most intimate friend.

The United States invaded Afghanistan 11 years ago under the pretext of eradicating the Taliban, but its failure has forced Washington to turn to negotiation with militants.”

Kobach makes a good point later in the video. He points out that it took the police a long time to get there. Because of that he’s glad that the mob didn’t try to break into his home. He’s a strong supporter of the Second Amendment, you see.

The Internal Revenue Service is about to pay $70 million in employee bonuses despite an Obama administration directive to cancel discretionary bonuses because of automatic spending cuts enacted this year, according to a GOP senator.

Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa says his office has learned that the IRS is executing an agreement with the employees’ union on Wednesday to pay the bonuses. Grassley says the bonuses should be canceled under an April directive from the White House budget office.

The directive was written by Danny Werfel, a former budget official who has since been appointed acting IRS commissioner.

“The IRS always claims to be short on resources,” Grassley said. “But it appears to have $70 million for union bonuses. And it appears to be making an extra effort to give the bonuses despite opportunities to renegotiate with the union and federal instruction to cease discretionary bonuses during sequestration.”

I wonder what Lois Lerner’s bonus will be.

Bill Ayers believes President Obama gets a “failing grade” for his presidency, and should be tried for “war crimes,” along with all living presidents who have engaged in acts of “terrorism” abroad.

Sitting down for an episode of RealClearPolitics’ “Morning Commute,” Ayers told host Charlie Stone that, on policy, Obama receives a “failing grade” along with the “F-minuses” he’s given previous presidents like George W. Bush and Richard Nixon.

That Ayers and Obama would attempt to distance themselves from each other is hardly surprising, is it?

Syrian rebels beheaded a Christian man and fed his body to dogs, according to a nun who says the West is ignoring atrocities committed by Islamic extremists.

The nun said taxi driver Andrei Arbashe, 38, was kidnapped after his brother was heard complaining that fighters against the ruling regime behaved like bandits.

She said his headless corpse was found by the side of the road, surrounded by hungry dogs. He had recently married and was soon to be a father.

Sister Agnes-Mariam de la Croix said: ‘His only crime was his brother criticised the rebels, accused them of acting like bandits, which is what they are.’

Maybe Obama should do universal background checks on these guys before we give them weapons, huh? Nah, that’s just for Tea Partiers.

How close did it get to you?
It was coming at me. It probably got to within a couple meters, easy, maybe a meter. If I’d have slowed down I would have definitely hit it, so I just opened it up, got a bit of power and got around it. I’ve had dogs run out at me on bikes before and you sort of get a feel for the distance the speed you’re going, but it was pretty tight.

But after you’d gotten some distance between you, that’s when you pulled around for a closer look?
I stopped the bike, pulled my gloves off, took my camera out, did a u-turn and came back, and that’s when I managed to get the pictures. When [the wolf] heard me coming, it jumped back over a [roadside] barrier and it started running. I sped up a little bit, it got in nice and close and I was driving with my right hand and clicking pictures with my left. When I first came back around, it came in really close; probably a bit too close. It would have been a real bad time to run out of gas. Even over the motor, I could hear it. I could hear its feet on the road.”

I think the Oathkeepers are the good guys. I also think that every effort to make their existence and their goals more well known is a good thing.

Painted as radicals and racists by some, this organization of law enforcement officers and military vets says its only purpose is to uphold the Constitution.

It started with Katrina. The sight of U.S. military troops, law enforcement officers, and armed government contractors seizing firearms from citizens in the aftermath of that terrible storm shocked the conscience of Yale constitutional law scholar Stewart Rhodes. That these actions were later recognized as wrong by the U.S. Supreme Court did little to assuage Rhodes’ concerns. The fact remained that an illegal precedent had taken place, and could well occur again; indeed, it appeared that that the seeds sown in Louisiana might not only take root, but germinate elsewhere, as well.

After witnessing what he saw as an unconstitutional outrage in the wake of Katrina, Rhodes founded the Oath Keepers, an organization for peace officers and soldiers who adhere strictly to the letter of the Constitution and swear not to obey any orders that they believe to be unconstitutional.”

The fact that the Associate Attorney General’s parents gave him such an unfortunate name adds a veneer of ridiculosity to the whole thing.
