Apparently, McDonald’s is under some moral obligation to feed the poor in California.

“The McDonald’s at the corner of Haight and Stanyan streets eliminated its Dollar Menu about a month ago, making the items on it too expensive for the people who spend the better part of their day on the sidewalk in front.

Street people who for years have depended on the McDonald’s to eat say it’s become a de facto sit/lie ordinance.”

So, by raising prices on the dollar menu, McDonald’s is discriminating against the homeless or something.  You see, according to these people, McDonald’s OWES them the dollar menu items:

Still, people like Newhart, who moved from Tennessee to the streets of San Francisco five years ago, say they are often hungrier than usual.

“Yeah man, it … sucks,” he said Thursday while sitting foodless on the McDonald’s patio with a half dozen hungry friends. “I eat less. I have to get more money.

Now the franchise owner’s motives are “in question”.  Is the motive purely market driven? By raising prices, can the owner make more money on higher priced sales v. any loss in volume?  Or perhaps it is to keep their restaurant from being an ad hoc homeless shelter by offering food for a dollar?

Answer:

Who gives a shit?  It’s the franchise owner’s decision.  Period.  I’m sure the answer to the question is: “Both.  I’m raising prices a) because I can, and b) because it keeps the street urchins and drifters from cluttering up my patio.

The franchise owner is under no obligation to feed the homeless, or to provide food for a dollar.  This is the entitlement mentality at its finest.  Not only is the government responsible for taking care of the masses, it is now the responsibility of the private sector, too.

Oh, and by the way, and where is  the DHHS memo stating how bad this food is for you in the first place?

Arnold lays it out rather nicely: California is fucked.   You can read the whole thing here, but these are just a few of my favorite things:

The average 401(k) is down nationally nearly 20% since 2007. Meanwhile, the defined benefit retirement plans of government employees—for which private-sector workers are on the hook—have risen in value.

Few Californians in the private sector have $1 million in savings, but that’s effectively the retirement account they guarantee to public employees who opt to retire at age 55 and are entitled to a monthly, inflation-protected check of $3,000 for the rest of their lives.

It’s as if Sacramento legislators don’t want a government of the people, by the people, and for the people, but a government of the employees, by the employees, and for the employees.

I am under no illusion about the difficulty of my task. Government-employee unions are the most powerful political forces in our state and largely control Democratic legislators. But for the future of our state, no task is more important.

Remember when Obama was elected and those schools had the cute little kiddies singing songs of Praise and Hope to the Enlightened One?  At school.  With their teachers instructing them to do so, and teaching them the lyrics?

Well, you ain’t gonna believe this shit.  WARNING: Your head might just explode:

The guy who made this video is a Christian Conservative teacher and football coach. He emailed it to PERSONAL email list, which happened to include a couple of parents of kids on the football team.

He created and distributed this on his own time. Outside the classroom and off school grounds.

A Tennessee middle school football coach is looking to the future after his termination for alleged political incorrectness.

Twenty-six-year-old Bryan Glover is a Christian who co-wrote a song called “When You’re Holding a Hammer, Everything Looks Like a Nail,” which takes a dig at the current administration and what he believes to be the wrong moves for the U.S. He sent a link to his song to everyone in his personal e-mail inbox, which included parents from Grassland Middle School, where he coached football.

“An hour-and-a-half after sending out the e-mail, I got the phone call from the head coach saying that he had had complaints from parents; he was told to fire me,” the former coach accounts.

He notes that he was surprised by the allegations against him.

“When the coach first called me, he said his phone was blown up with parents saying that I was being politically incorrect — quote, unquote — if you will, and that some of them were even reading into racial overtones in the song,” Glover explains.

But he points out that the lyrics make no direct or indirect reference to race.

A number of supportive parents met with the principal and asked for reinstatement, but the school district is remaining firm

Unfucking believable.  Seriously.  Please, somebody tell me this is a joke.

“Des Moines police are trying to determine what led to a series of attacks outside the Iowa State Fairgrounds over the weekend that included the assault of two police officers….Officials announced last week that they were stepping up security outside the fairgrounds after a series of attacks Aug. 14 that included a pair of stabbings.

“Sgt. David Murillo stated in a report on Friday night, “On-duty officers at the fairgrounds advise there was a group of 30 to 40 individuals roaming the fairgrounds openly calling it ‘beat whitey night.‘ “

Maybe a beer summit is in order.  Or maybe its just the Des Moines Police acting “stupidly”.  Hmmmm.

Roughly half of Americans in a recent poll said the do not know what religious beliefs are practiced by our current President.  Toss in the GZM issue, absence of school transcripts and the whole ‘birther’ thing and one thing becomes pretty clear:

As a country, most citizens just don’t know who this guy is or what he stands for. What lurks in heart of Barack Obama?  What lurks in the heart of the American citizens?

And what do we do when we want to know something?  Why, we Google it of course:

Type “Barack Obama is…” into the Google browser and you get the above results.  Sometimes, you  also get “Barack Obama is Your New Bicycle” whatever the hell that means.

But there is one term notably absent from the list:

• President

Let’s hope the only time that term appears is in the context of  ”One Term Presidents”.

Obama apparently does not think too highly of governmental transparency anymore. Another campaign promise formally kicked to the curb.  Is anyone even counting anymore?

President Obama has abolished the position in his White House dedicated to transparency and shunted those duties into the portfolio of a partisan ex-lobbyist who is openly antagonistic to the notion of disclosure by government and politicians.

I really think the American people have just sort of gone numb with the flagrant lies and misrepresentations.  Anger has somehow turned to some kind of comical acceptance, sort of like all of Biden’s stupid remarks.  ”Well, you know Joe, — ha ha — you never know what’s gonna come out ‘ole Joe’s mouth.  Ha ha.”

The same thing is happening with Barry.  The sheer magnitude and degree to which he says one thing and does another, blatantly twists facts into stumping sound bites and is just so fucking tone deaf to what regular Americans are saying has just become comical. It’s as if those things have are just being dismissed because they are so completely inconsistent with reality.  Butits a tragedy, not a comedy, and I don’t think anyone’s even listening anymore.

“You know Barry, hell even I don’t think he expects the American people to believe the shit he’s saying, but he just keeps saying it anyway!  I wonder what’s on Jersey Shore tonight….”

When I was part of large corporate America, we had a thing called a “360 Review”.  Basically, your boss, peers, and subordinates would all review you in order to get a ’360 view’ of your job performance.

John Morton and Phyllis Coven’s staff at ICE provide their review of their supervisors:

On June 11, 2010, the National Immigration and Customs Enforcement Council and its constituent local representatives from around the nation, acting on behalf of approximately 7,000 ICE officers and employees from the ICE Office of Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), cast a unanimous “Vote of No Confidence” in the Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), John Morton, and the Assistant Director of the ICE Office of Detention Policy and Planning, (ODPP), Phyllis Coven.

Wow.  100% of their staff votes ‘no confidence’. But it gets better…

In the aforementioned letter, these agents cite repeated examples of how ICE Leadership is promoting “Amnesty through Policy” which, basically, says that ICE leadership refuses to enforce immigration laws and in doing so is providing amnesty.  Excerpts  include:

While ICE reports internally that more than 90 percent of ICE detainees are first encountered in jails after they are arrested by local police for criminal charges, ICE senior leadership misrepresents this information publicly in order to portray ICE detainees as being non-criminal in nature to support the Administration’s position on amnesty and relaxed security at ICE detention facilities.

The majority of ICE ERO Officers are prohibited from making street arrests or enforcing United States immigration laws outside of the institutional (jail) setting. This has effectively created “amnesty through policy” for anyone illegally in the United States who has not been arrested by another agency for a criminal violation.

While this is scary shit, it should not be surprising.  Obama wants (needs) amnesty to get the votes.  He’s just doing it back-channel, and ICE Agents are calling him out on it.

If anyone in my organization got a review even remotely comperable to this from their staff, he or she would be on the street the same day.  But I guess if we apply that rule to anyone in Obama’s administration, it would equate to a mass exodus….

Has government gotten too big?  Are there too many regulations?  I just can’t make up my mind.

A lot of people say things that seem (or arguably are) contradictory.  Examples I have heard  include, “I support the troops, but not the war” or “I support teachers, but hate teacher’s unions” or “I support Catholicism but hate the Catholic Church.”

My question for you to opine about is this:  Are these legitimate statements, or just a lilly-livered attempt to find some kind of politically-correct middle ground?  Can you support the people involved in something while not supporting the leadership i.e. Church leadership, Military, Union Leaders?  Is this hypocrisy or are relevant, legitimate and important distinctions being made?

Be sure to uuse your blue books, and we believe in the Honor Code here, people…..

I recently returned from a family trip out to the great state of Colorado (and am wondering why I ever moved from there) and thought the Revo gang might enjoy some scenery….just to take a deep breath and soak up the important stuff happening far, far away from Washington D.C….

Just because we wanted to be slightly more adventurous, we decided to take the train to Colorado.  As in “AmTrak”.  Let’s just say you get what you pay for in government subsidized transportation.  The ride was pleasant, and gives you some interesting exposure to Americana complete with the traveling family (us), the hippie set, the Amish Colony of travelers and what appeared to be a Gay/Lesbian Travel club that boarded around 2:00 am somewhere near Creston, Iowa.

I would be remiss if I did not share a bit of my surprise concerning the utter absence of security with train travel in this day and age.  Amtrak Security isn’t poor, it’s simply non-existent.   It was actually sort of refreshing given the hoops you have to go through at the airport.  For example: I order tickets in advance to be picked up at the station.  I got there and said, “Four tickets for the Vanagram Family”.  The station master just handed them to me — no identification, nothing– he barely even looked up.  On board we saw people with knives on their belt, drinking beer from their Igloo cooler, and pulling all sorts of traditionally ‘contraband’ items out of their luggage.  I could have boarded with a shotgun over my shoulder and nobody would have said a word.  But I guess you can’t high-jack a train….

Anyway, I would encourage everyone to do a long rail trip at least once — it is quite different, actually relaxing as you watch the landscape slip by, and very low hassle (assuming the trains are running on time which they seldom do).

A couple of reasons why Colorado is a great place to live, visit or just “be” –

A great place to establish “Galt’s Gultch” if you ask me….

A pair of illegal immigrants raped a 14-year-old Texas girl at July 4th party in Texas, where the teen was later found sitting naked in a bathtub, police said.

We have people like Harry Reid saying there are “no illegals in the Nevada construction industry”.  We have Obama stating that Arizona’s new immigration laws are “misguided” while Holder is suing the State of Arizona for enforcing existing immigration laws.  Twice.

And then we have these guys.

Raped a 14 year old girl.  On the 4th of July.  But c’mon, illegals in our country aren’t really a problem, are they?  They’re just doing the work that Roman Polanski Americans won’t do, right?

Holder & Clan are so terrified of the colossally violent and unjust possibility of either of these guys potentially being profiled that we would rather just let them come and go as they please.  (Oh, and please don’t rape our daughters. Thanks.)

The rape of our children seems to be an acceptable consequence of not enforcing our immigration laws, while even the most remote chance of profiling would, apparently,  be a crime against humanity.

The US Taxpayer has to pay to incarcerate these fuckwads for the next 2o years to boot.  Assuming, of course, the prosecution can find the appropriate witnesses.

Local investigators contacted Texas Rangers to assist in their investigation and translate, as none of the witnesses at the party or the suspects spoke English.

We wouldn’t want to detain anyone at the party for questioning — that might be construed as profiling or something.  You know, questioning someone who might be a witness to a crime but doesn’t speak English is what has Eric Holder’s panties in a knot.  So, whatever you do, don’t ask a bunch of non-English speaking people who happen to be hanging out with two illegals about their own nationality — that’s just wrong, wrong, wrong.

I’m sure these were the only two illegals in that group, and the only two criminals in the bunch.  Sure of it.  Because as we all know, these types don’t tend to congregate together or anything like that.  I’m sure the rest of them were fine upstanding citizens of Honduras   just making their way to the local church raffle.

I think the father of this girl should write a letter to Obama and Holder and ask them why his little girl must pay the price for their inability to enforce a federal law that has been on the books since 1929.  Ask them to explain why we need “comprehensive immigration reform” before we just close the border to violent, child raping illegals.  Ask them which is more important — protecting our children against sexual assaults, rapes, beatings and murders, or protecting a non-American’s non-existent right not to be profiled.

Better yet, (speaking as the father of two daughters) I think hanging these pieces of shit by their balls and letting the girl whack them with a red, white and blue bat piñata style is in order.
