Falcon Cam

I almost feel sorry for the crows. Almost.

Watch until the end. The last clip of two birds working together is amazing.

Think about this. These small cameras are allowing us to see, for the first time, sights no human being has ever seen.

Some of the clips had body mounted cameras.
Interesting to watch the scene jiggle as the bird flapped and climbed, but stabilize as it glided.

Amazing. That last falcon had a very artistic eye and a good, steady camera head. I’d love to see video of these falcons putting the hurt on a giant flock of grackles. It doesn’t even have to be falcons. It can be shotguns, wind turbines, or a cyanide pond at a heap leaching operation. Pretty much anything that causes mass death of grackles.

    Again, so awesome.

Crows are smart. Really smart. They and related corvids are some of the smartest creatures on earth. Smarter than pigs and dogs. Probably on par with chimps and dolphins. Smarter than the falcons, for sure. Check it.

That means that crow at the end knew he was in big trouble. Not in some abstract, instinctual way. That crow knew it in his bones. That’s why I almost feel sorry for it.

    Holy crap.

That was spectacular! A true “bird’s eye view”. Just awesome. I think it’d be neat to see a duck or goose time-lapse of the migration.

I’ve seen the falcons hunting crow or raven in Yokosuka. They like to sit on the tops of the booms on portal cranes in the morning to watch for prey. The crows never know what’s hitting them they are so fast. Nature at it’s finest.
