Celebrating Five Years of Broken Windows

arra_stimulus_recovery_road_project_sign

Five years ago today Obama signed what would be his second largest failure. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act was a boo boo compared to the disaster that is Obamacare.

I’d like to point a couple of posts from the wayback machine:

Breaking Windows is Not Stimulating, Posted on February 27, 2009

Oh, and…

Stimulus, Bastiat, Keynes and the empty city of Ordos, Posted on January 18, 2010

And…

Cēterīs paribus, stimulus doesn’t stimulate Posted on June 4, 2010

Now I would like to claim credit for being a clairvoyant genius but credit where credit is due: Claude Frédéric Bastiat and Friedrich August Hayek. Rock on, econ dudes!

Don’t mean to burst your bubble, but I think Gilligan coulda figgered that one out.
It was the first payoff to his friends. The obeymecare was his second. They are just surprised at how fast it failed, because not all of the payoffs have made it out yet.

Actually reboot, other than a few of us in the inner circle, I doubt many of our readers had ever HEARD of Bastiat. Hayek, maybe :)
And they were timely refutations of the utter horseshit coming out of the MSM at the time. Maybe I’m a nerd (ok, wait, I AM a nerd) but simple explanations of economic principles is absolutely, positively, what we need to put in the faces of the bleating masses. A lot of the seemingly moronic are actually just chronically ignorant. The condition isn’t terminal for ALL of them. I have had great success reprogramming the zombies by walking them thru these things in a dialectic. I’m glad YOU understood this all, but we have to play to the lower 95% as well. Sir.

No, I understand, but there are a large percentage, that is growing daily, that just don’t give a shit as long as their ebt card is filled on a regular basis. Those we will never be able to teach. It’s the swing voters we have to grab with the hooks and drag them along with and make them learn.
The next group is the lame stream media slobberers who sit in front of a “news” channels and think they understand what is going on. What a farking JOKE.
Most of those around me and even at work know my feelings about what’s going on, and most agree. But they know when they open a subject up, they might get a subtle blast out of me at their misunderstanding of what is really going on and what’s being broadcast in the media.
Take the school with the racist lunch scheduled during black history month. Remember, fried chicken, corn bread, and water melon?
Oh, it was the KIDS that voted for that lunch.
Somehow I evaded getting pissed off while typing that, ah, I just vented work today. :)

And I’m totally stealing that signage, lol
