The Littlest King

king-obama-1

This from Reuters regarding Obama’s weekly radio address yesterday.

With Democrats divided and Republicans battling what they consider a government-takeover of healthcare, Obama tried to lay down some markers for the coming debate as he seeks to gain passage of a plan this year.

“I welcome any sincere attempts to improve legislation before it reaches my desk. But what I will not accept are attempts to stall, or drag our feet. I will not accept partisan efforts to block reform at any cost,” he said.

How is it that the head of the executive branch feels he can dictate to the legislative branch what he will and will not accept in terms of how they go about, you know, legislating? Understand that he isn’t describing the nature of bill that he will or will not sign. He is telling them what behavior is and isn’t acceptable to his royal person.

Barely a day goes by that Obama doesn’t exhibit some preposterously grandiose declaration of his benevolent omnipotence. Yesterday it came with threats that only have teeth if the Congress gives them teeth. I mean what is Obama going to do? Deny them desert at the Hart Senate Office Building cafeteria?

Obama doesn’t believe he is limited to the role of head administrator of the Executive Branch as the Founders intended. He evidently still believes he is the the media and pop culture christened omnipotent priest-king who dictates to a constitutionally co-equal branch of government what behavior he will accept and not accept as they go about their constitutional duties. He apparently hasn’t yet noticed that his tank of political capital running nearer empty than full.

Frankly, pronouncements that he will not accept foot dragging or partisanship from congress are little more than bluster. The only way Obama can affect on the manner in which the Congress goes about its business is if the congress voluntarily concedes him that power. As of late, it seems that they are less willing to do that than during any of the rest of the long nine months since Obama’s immaculation.

None of this should be deemed to imply that the people are in control. Far from it. The growth rate of the combined power of the federal government over the citizenry is unchanged by balance of power in Washington DC. The government behemoth continues to expand and to extend its tendrils into the lives of every American. This shows no sign of abatement. The Leviathan thrives and grows immune to the petty politics of individual presidents.

OFF WITH THEIR HEADS….THE PARTISAN BASTARDS!! Last time I checked the Dims had a pretty nice majority in both houses. Those pointy fingers oughta be aimed at the mirror.

“Jester in Chief” is more like it.

Just another mischaracterization (what us rednecks call “a lie”) about the whole debate…. Nobody wants to “block reform at any cost” Mr. Prez….but we’re not really talking about ACTUAL reform, now are we?

After all, any “health-care reform” that doesn’t include MAJOR tort reform isn’t really “reform” at all, now is it?

How do you try to cram through 1000+ pages of “health-care reform” without a even a paragraph devoted to ambulance chasers?

Even Bob Beckel agrees that tort reform should be a major part of any “health-care reform”. How “partisan” is that? LMAO!

Obama’s problem, and our temporary gain, is that he doesn’t know the difference between celebrity and governing. He doesn’t know that making grandiose demands and then consistently failing to fulfill them only makes him look weak and stupid, not like a leader. More importantly, he doesn’t appear capable of learning any different way and soon will be known as the “President With No Clothes On”. In the long term, this will will hurt America because a weak and foolish President invites attacks and manipulation by foreign powers.
