Subsidizing FAT

corn_syrup

As always, government creates problems by spending resources political office allows control over, in order to purchase votes or campaign contributions. It’s political corruption 101.

Agricultural corn subsidies are no exception.

Kind of ironic that your post followed my last one. I would argue that corn syrup doesn’t make people fat, people shoving an endless amount of it down their pie holes makes people fat.

I agree with your general argument about government subsidies.

R.D., it’s all so wrong on so many levels who knows where to start. People shop price, and our taxes subsidize corn syrup. They make the choice lower cost + fat is better value than thin and healthy. No one wants to pay for health.

Tyranny of the masses makes it harder for the discriminating few percent of us to find convenient healthy food. When government subsidizes something, it makes it harder for those who don’t want to participate in their little system to maintain independence.

On a recent airline trip, the woman sitting next to me exclaimed “Good! We’re all thin.”
    Fat is pervasive.
