Yep. That’s Exactly How To Do It

How can an uneducated teacher educate students?

“New York State to ditch new teacher literacy exam because too many minorities fail it”

The New York State Board of Regents will consider tomorrow whether to go with a task force’s recommendation to scrap a teacher literacy exam known as the Academic Literacy Skills Test.

“Part of the reason,” NBC New York reports, is because “an outsized percentage of black and Hispanic [teacher] candidates were failing it.”

It is expected the Board will abandon the assessment.”

I’m just shaking my head at this.

Nothing wrong with open notes/book tests. They just have to be written appropriately. The Professional Engineer’s exam is open notes/books and for Electrical has about a 30% pass rate. People literally bring in hand trucks full of books. I went in with a 1″ binder of notes and the NEC and passed.

Just commenting your picture. The actual subject of lowering standards to cater to groups is a disgraceful race to the bottom.

I suggest that there is a world of difference between third grade math, science, and history tests and a test to become a professional Engineer. The first twelve years are, or should be, designed to teach young people to read, to study, and to converse – both orally and in written form. Once you get those basics – and learn a bit of self-discipline, you are prepared to take tests that not only challenge your memory but your organizational skills as well.

Children are already dumbed down enough and now they want to dumb down the teachers. College diplomas are not worth the sheepskin they are printed on and now high school diplomas won’t be worth a plugged nickel. I believe this is a government conspiracy to dumb the electorate down so much that they will fall for anything. It’s almost that bad now.

And is worth the paper it is written on. Do they let you say “Can I Supersize that for you?” Maybe you can make enough to move out of your mothers basement if you go to a trade school for a year.

That movie becomes more like reality each day. Sigh…..
