“You lie!”
November 27, 2009
The left’s statist agenda cannot be implemented without lies. A significant percentage of Americans may be willing to elect liberals based on their personalities, appearance and a general perception that they are “cool”, but there are not nearly enough to elect them if they reveal their true agenda. This is why the Democrats rely on the lie.
The House Cap and Trade bill, if signed into law, would represent the largest tax increase in American history. It is designed to drive up the cost of about 90% of the energy used in the United States. Driving up the cost of energy drives up the cost of everything that is produced and delivered. Huge increases in costs of all products would reduce quantity demanded of all goods and the result would be dramatically increased unemployment. This is basic economics and is beyond dispute. Despite this manifest reality, Nancy Pelosi said this on the House floor her final comment before the vote.
“And when you do, just remember these four words for what this legislation means: jobs, jobs, jobs, and jobs.”
When she claims that cap and trade is a jobs bill, she isn’t fudging the truth or telling a white lie. She isn’t spinning or engaging in politics-as-usual. She is lying. She is making a statement that is the exact, diametric opposite of the truth. She is telling a bold and brazen lie. It is a wonder her pants didn’t spontaneously ignite.
The bold and brazen lie is stock and trade of the Democratic platform. As they plan to extend health care to 30 million Americans who do not currently have coverage, they tell us that doing so will save money, reduce the deficit and improve care for those who currently have coverage. It is a lie so brazen that it is literally stunning. It takes a willing suspension of disbelief to accept what they are claiming as even remotely possible let along the truth.
The leftist base of the Democratic party tends to accept the lies of statist politicians as necessary to dupe a majority of the population into voting for their candidates. When Obama said he opposed gay marriage during the campaign, his gay supporters didn’t complain because they understood his claim that he is opposed to gay marriage to be a stratagem. They assumed that Obama was only claiming that position because it was necessary to receive the votes needed to be elected. They accept the strategy of lying as a necessary step to be elected in a center/right nation.
Global warming, whatever the scientific reality, has been shown to be propagated and promoted by lies and distortions. It isn’t science but the corruption of science to promote a desired political end. Regardless of the true climatic conditions, the statist left has resorted to a wall of misinformation and distortions to promote an end desperately sought by the advocates of the deception: socialist control of the economy. Even if it were to be found later that anthropogenic global warming is occurring, it will still be true that “scientists” promoted it with cynical lies.
Another area in which the left assumed with a wink and a nod that Obama was lying was regarding the war in Afghanistan. During the campaign, Obama stated unequivocally that the war in Afghanistan was one of necessity and that America must prevail there. In fact, he has said that the war is “fundamental to the defense of our people.”
During the campaign, many on the left winked and nodded to one and other. They assumed that Obama was merely claiming to support the war in Afghanistan in order to give his desire to surrender in Iraq credibility. They knew that if candidate Obama opposed both the war in Iraq and the war in Afghanistan, he would be seen as a peace-at-all-costs dove and would, therefore, be unelectable. By pretending to support the smaller war in Afghanistan, candidate Obama could demand surrender in Iraq and still keep his national defense bonafides intact. They assumed that once elected, President Obama would pursue a policy of surrender, not just in Iraq, but in Afghanistan as well.
They may have been correct during the campaign. Obama likely did feign hawkishness on Afghanistan as the means to oppose Iraq without appearing to be weak on national defense. After he was elected however, a couple of facts became evident. First, he realized that he had overplayed his hawkish hand on Afghanistan and that it would be very difficult to suddenly turn dovish on that fight. Secondly, he discovered that the stakes are indeed high in Afghanistan and surrender is not a real option.
All of this has his base, who believed they had a tacit understanding with Obama, very, very angry.
“I think there will be some disillusionment within his base,” said Paul Kawika Martin, political director for Peace Action, a grassroots organization, who added that thousands of activists are planning to protest following the president’s announcement.
“We’re going to spank him for sending more troops,” he told FoxNews.com, adding that they may also “thank him” if he announces a quick exit strategy.
If Obama’s leftist base took him at his word, they would have no reason to be angry now. Through out the campaign, Obama said that the war in Afghanistan was necessary and the failure was not an option. Of course they didn’t believe he was being sincere. They assumed that he was engaging in the lies that are at the core of the Democratic election strategy. Now, realizing that they misinterpreted the situation, they are ready to turn on Obama.
The Big Lie is a trap for Democrats. Without the Big Lie, Democrats can’t get elected. If they use the Big Lie to get elected, that can’t govern.

I’d like to start a discussion:
What can Conservatives do to hasten and inflame the rift that is occurring in the Democrat party as discussed above? We all know that zero was lying when he said he’d make the war in Afghanistan a high priority. Now he is trapped and has to do it and it is causing discontent among his anti-war base. It seems to me that there is something we can do to help make the discontent greater. Anyone got any ideas?

Jim: I am noticing that a lot of conservatives who previously supported the war in Afghanistan are now going wobbly on it. I guess Obama running it bothers them. One thing we can do is continue to support a war effort we have supported for eight years. Not only is this the right thing to do, it certainly doesn’t help Obama with his base.

I don’t know about inflaming the Democrats but when I think of them I click on this video below and get a very good laugh!

Another thing: Am I the only one in the world who has noticed that the name of the man who crashed the state dinner is Tareq Salahi? The news is handling this like a comic opera. What if this is a warning?

Hell no! That was the first thing I noticed. That is the first thing everybody who isn’t in a delusional state of politically correct willing suspension of logic and reason noticed.

The war in Afghanistan is not winnable, nor has “winning” been the objective. The former Soviet Union could not win either. US policy has been containment. If Afghanistan can remain in internal conflict, the Taliban can be kept away from the rest of the world. US policy should still be one of expending minimum resources necessary to keep Afghanistan busy with its own problems. Afghanistan is the world’s leading supplier of opium.

Afghanistan and Pakistan are a big shit sandwich. If you let Afghanistan go feral, the Taliban and al Qaeda and every other Islamist fuckwit will start operating there with the goal of destabilizing and taking over Pakistan. Pakistan the nuclear power I might add.
