I started thinking out loud while talking w/ my wife about this. MLK’s wise words were running through my mind and how he must be rolling over in his grave. Then I said to her “Shit… right now I’d settle for some Rodney King wisdom… “Can’t we all just get along?””.

  2. FrankinTexas says:

The political left started with shouting epithets, then came the baseball bats and pepper spray which was followed by knives and now guns. There will be more killings until the left gets something that they are not expecting.

  3. MadBrad says:

They need to be squashed like the bugs that they are, by any and all means.

  4. Jim22 says:

We all hoped it would not come to things like this – but we knew it would. How sad.

  5. MadBrad says:

It’s good to know that Federal Law Enforcement has been aware of the threat that exists as a result of the Tea Party movement and those who fly the Gadsden Flag.

  6. Jim22 says:

“Rep. Mike Bishop, R-Mich., survived the shooting on the GOP practice baseball game Wednesday morning. He recounted the horrific moment during an interview on CBS’ WWJ Newsradio 950.

“As we were standing here this morning, a gunman walked up to the fence line and just began to shoot. I was standing at home plate and he was in the third base line,” Bishop told the Detroit radio station. “He had a rifle that was clearly meant for the job of taking people out, multiple casualties, and he had several rounds and magazines that he kept unloading and reloading.”

Bishop said the only reason he and his colleagues survived was because someone at the practice field had a gun and was able to return fire while they found cover behind the backstop and elsewhere.”

  7. C. L. says:

Reports are saying the gunman was there to kill as many Republican congressmen as possible.

Hey Kathy Griffin, Maxine Waters, Michael Moore, and anyone else who thinks violence is justified because you did not get your way – is this really what you wanted? Insurrection of this magnitude? Fuck you, you fucking fucks. If this gunman is a good sample of what you can bring to the table, you are going to be sorely disappointed if it goes any farther.

    “What we know so far

    • A gunman opened fire at a GOP baseball practice in Alexandria, Va.
    • Five people were wounded, including House Majority Whip Steve Scalise and two Capitol Police officers.
    • The gunman is in custody and is no longer a threat, police said.
    • According to Rep. Mo Brooks, R-Ala., who was at the practice, the shooter, a white male, armed with a rifle, fired as many as 40 shots.
    • “I ran around to the plastic batting cage,” Brooks said. “There were probably 20, 30, 40 shots fired.”
    • Brooks said he and Rep. Brad Wenstrup helped attending to the victims.
    • Alexandria Police Chief Michael Brown said officers responded within three minutes of reports of shots fired and engaged the shooter, who was shot.
    • President Trump tweeted that Scalise was “badly injured but will fully recover.”

  9. MadBrad says:

100 rounds fired from a semi-automatic rifle over the course of 10 minutes.

3 casualties and then the gunman gets shot… by a man with a pistol.

This Civil War will not last long with marksmanship like that.

(I’m betting the guy used a piece of shit AK, which explains in part the lack of casualties)

  10. Jim22 says:

    A little good news:

“Scalise’s office issues an update on his condition:

“This morning, at a practice for the Congressional Baseball Game, Whip Scalise was shot in the hip. He was transported to MedStar Washington Hospital Center, where he is currently undergoing surgery. He is in stable condition.

Prior to entering surgery, the Whip was in good spirits and spoke to his wife by phone. He is grateful for the brave actions of the U.S. Capitol Police, first responders, and colleagues.

We ask that you keep the Whip and others harmed in this incident in your thoughts and prayers.”

  11. fasttimes says:

i heard someone on fox this morning say before the shooting, the shooter walked up and ask if it was a repub or dem practice.

is that true one of the congressmen was carrying and returned fire?

  12. R.D. Walker says:

So, white guy targets, shoots and wounds Republicans.

According to my MSM/Democrat style manual, this should be framed as a problem of too many guns in society.

Had it been Democrats targeted, it would be about hate crimes, the violence inherent in those who oppose Democrats and, somehow, racism. This, however, will be framed as a gun problem.

    • Jim22 says:

This is a hate crime. The shooter hated Republicans and wanted to kill as many as he could.

In the future more than one Congress member will have police with them.

  13. Van-a-gram says:

This will be a turning point. It will end with the ‘ruling class’ (elected officials) living highly protected lives. But in order to do so, they will have to be isolated. That will create a society within a society — a ruling society, removed from the populace and shielded behind tall walls far away from those who they rule.

All that is old is new again. Hello Roman Empire.

Hunger Games…. Wiki Capitol re-word… The Capitol of the United States is a technologically advanced, utopian city where the nation’s most wealthy and powerful citizens live. The Capitol is also the colloquial name for the ruling government of United States. As the seat of power in America, the nation’s thirteen districts (twelve after The Dark Days) are ruled from this city, and the Hunger Games are organized and celebrated inside its city limits (protected by anti aircraft guns and multiple launch rocket systems, or MLRS’s). The Capitol is a tyrannical dictatorship, led by President Sanders, and holds total political and economic dominance over America, enforcing its rule through an army of communist party Peacekeepers, capital punishment, propaganda, the fear of nuclear devastation (like District 13), and the Hunger Games. The Capitol is known for its fashion and food.

  14. Van-a-gram says:

I think they have confirmed that the shooter was asking if it was D’s or R’s out on the field. When told R’s, gunfire started five minutes later.

  15. Jim22 says:

Eyewitness account. Man at adjacent dog park reports here:

“Noah Nathan was at dog park next to the baseball field the shootings. He held his phone up toward the shooter & filmed. Cops have his phone.”

    That took guts to do.

  16. R.D. Walker says:

Rand Paul just said on MSNBC: “If Scalise (Majority Whip) hadn’t been there, Capitol Police would not have been there.”

He went on to say that if the Capitol Police hadn’t been there, it would have been a massacre.

Mo Brooks says on CNN that the shooter was taken down by a member of the security detail who had already been shot.

  17. Jim22 says:

    FBI taking over the investigation

At a mid-morning press briefing, Alexandria Police Chief Michael Brown said that because the victims were federal police officers and members of Congress, the FBI is taking over the investigation.

Brown also stressed that while the investigation is “active,” the incident is not.

“This is not an active incident,” he said. “The city is safe.”

  18. Jennnayyy says:

Well, Tom Kaine told them they needed to take the war to the streets. Guess he got what he wanted.

  19. R.D. Walker says:

I am sure it wasn’t an M-4. Anybody want to bet?

  20. Jim22 says:

    “Shooter identified

Via the Washington Post: The shooter at the GOP congressional baseball practice this morning is James T. Hodgkinson of Belleville, Ill., according to law enforcement officials. Hodgkinson, 66, owns a home inspection business. His home inspection license expired in November 2016 and was not renewed, state records show. Hodgkinson was charged in April 2006 with battery and aiding damage to a motor vehicle, according to online records in St. Clair County, Illinois. The charges were dismissed, records show.”

I may have gone to school with him. Don’t remember but I graduated from Belleville Township High School. He’s a few years younger than I.

Facebook Page still up!! The comments are piling up on his page… people going back and forth… crazy.

  31. C. L. says:

My sister-in-law practices law in Belleville, as well as St. Louis, MO. My wife grew up less than 10 miles from there, and her family is all still in that immediate area. Damn. It is a very prosperous little city.

  32. fasttimes says:

can you even buy an “assault weapon” in illinois?

  33. MadBrad says:

A customer just told me that Trump announced that the gunman is dead.

  34. R.D. Walker says:

Republicans sound like Democrats right now claiming that shit like Gifford’s stupid stunt caused this. Look, you are responsible for inciting violence if you actually incite or organize or bless violence. Otherwise, you are not. It is just shit talking and jackassery. We all knew that was true during the Obama years and it is still true now.

  35. BrunDawg says:

Why does Pelosi’s list of prayers sound more like a wish-list for Santa?

Bernie Sanders Reads ‘Prepared Statement’ on Senate floor:

  37. mr_bill says:

I’ve never heard of the Congressional baseball game before today, has anybody else? Where did this guy get the idea that all these Republican Congressmen would be where they were?

    • fasttimes says:

wondered the same thing myself. not about there being an actually game, but that the practice would be so publicly known without substantial security.

  38. Jennnayyy says:

This whole thing sickens me. The left has brought this on. I was really trying hard today to just pray and not play politics. But the more I stew on it, the angrier I am. These are people. Real people. Yes, we may not always agree but they are husbands, fathers, sons, daughters, moms, and wives. They are humans representing us. So the fact that the left has gone apesh*t crazy since Trump was elected, means that this is on them. Every instigating remark, every beheading pic, every Shakespeare play showing the death of our President, every call to riot…..this is on them. I honestly believe we are headed towards another civil war. We can’t keep going like this as a divided country.

  39. Jim22 says:

Limbaugh just read an email on his radio show: “The shooter’s Facebook page looks like every ten-person round table discussion on CNN”.

  40. R.D. Walker says:

…and his Facebook page is gone. Vanished down the memory hole.
