Some good news for a change
December 26, 2009Believe it or not, my family has a bunch of folks in it that have a lot more sense than I do. Many of them are more highly educated than I am. Some have even gone on to become some pretty powerful people. I am glad that I got to spend some time with them this Christmas.
Immediatly afterwards I went back to my normal routine. I joined some friends for some drinks late Christmas afternoon. One of my friends who I haven’t seen for many years is actually paying his bills playing music now. He looks like a red-headed Wolfman Jack, still sportin’ puka beads with a shark tooth medalion. We have decided to start a Redneck Boy Band, only the boys in the band will all be over forty years of age and they must have a respectable gut. We are going to name our Boy Band “Tool Shed”. We have all agreed to take pole dancing lessons so as to sharpen and intensify our stage presence.
Yes, I’ve had a little to drink (as I write this in the wee hours of the morning) but I bring good tidings. Several States are preparing legal action that will halt enaction of the healthcare legislation, such as we have seen coming out of the Senate. The person I spoke to, who was once instrumental in saving my life, has worked in the Law all his professional life. He has actually served as a Judge at one point and I don’t want to say much more than that. He pointed out several examples of why what will soon be signed into Law is unconstitutional. Furthermore, he pointed out that you would have to have an extremely inventive mind to argue otherwise.
There were other close family relations there who this time last year were several million dollars wealthier. They voted for Obama. One of them called me a racist this time last year because I was quite vocal in my predictions of the disaster that was befalling us. He’s out of the stock market and into agriculture now. He wants to be sure that his recent investments are in things of real value, that can actually keep him fed. He’s fairly humble now.
The other guy is pretty humble too. He lost a lot of money in the Stock Market. He’s lucky to have anything left. That’s what happens to folks that end up making more money than they have sense. They spend it on stuff that doesn’t matter. In this case he spent it on shit he didn’t understand. It was a game and he just got caught up in playing it, rather than trying to fully grasp the nature of the beast he was trying to ride.
Of course they think I’m an idiot, resisting the beast by whatever means, but I’m not a dumbass who has let millions of dollars slip through my fingers believing in things that weren’t real. If I had as much money as either of those two had (and it came upon them suddenly, without warning) I wouldn’t have any concerns for my physical survival in the times ahead, nor would any of my family. I could have my own County, with a moat around it and a mile deep buffer zone that is patrolled by Baboons on Crack to keep my citizens safe from outside intrusion.
Other members of my family are headed to Afghanistan very shortly. They each have been there before, and have done a couple of tours in Iraq. They are career Soldiers doing the dirty work. It’s just another trip to Haji land for them, they didn’t even talk about it much.
We are living some interesting times. I advertised this post as “Good news for a change”. I really only intended to talk about the very informed legal counsel I got. I also discussed a plan of action I am considering, to be announced on Monday, presented as a topic for discussion. I do not consider the misfortune of others good news, unless they learned from it. The long lines of badasses who extend throughout our family are going back in the breach to kick some more ass. That’s a mixed bag of fortune there.
The REALLY good news is that “Tool Shed” will soon be announcing Tour Dates, appearing throughout the State of Georgia perhaps in the latter half of 2010. I’ve got to get some music written, work on our stage gimmics and get us enrolled in pole dancing classes. We’ve got some rehearsing to do but I predict that our natural abilities will allow us to not require much in the way of that, other than to brainstorm.
I was going to wait until Sunday to publish this, but such good news just couldn’t wait!
