British: Special Relationship with America is dead

The Brits say their “special relationship” with America has come to an end.

BRITAIN’S special relationship with the US — forged by Winston Churchill and Franklin Roosevelt in the second world war — no longer exists, says a committee of influential MPs.

Instead, America’s relationship with Britain is no more special than with its other main allies, according to a report by the Commons foreign affairs committee published today.

This, of course, should come as a surprise to no one. America doesn’t even have a special relationship with itself anymore. With a president who doesn’t even like America very much and has taken on the goal of undermining American exceptionalism, is it any surprise that we cannot maintain any type of a close relationship with any nation in the world? All that is left is enemies and former allies.

This turn of events saddens me so much. Maybe it’s because my ancestry is half British; or maybe it’s because even though I’m pretty much nothing and no-one in the eyes of the hoity-toity, I know the value of an ally.

No matter what anyone thinks of Tony Blair, I think even his enemies would be forced to acknowledge that he was a gifted speaker. And I kind of doubt that he needed a teleprompter to wipe his butt. I’ll never, ever forget the speech he gave right after 9/11 (I think it was either 9/12 or 9/14). One line in particular stands out, and makes me cry every time: “We were with you at the beginning; we will stay with you to the end”. AND THEY DID.

Now ask yourselves how it is that these very same Limey Journalists were once screaming how President Bush was such a strain on our “Special Relationship”?

Well why would need to have a special realtionship with Britain when your politicains are turning the USA into Britain lite?

Every dumb socialist idea from Britain seems to be on menu at the USA diner.
