February 27, 2008This is pretty much all that JM needs to run between now and November to win. If I were JM’s campaign advisor, I would tell him to put about 90% of the war chest into running this video on every station.
This is absolutely unbelievable coming from someone running to become leader of the free world. If it doesn’t scare the crap out you, nothing will….

Sounds good to me. Defense contracts are not awarded on a rational basis. They are politicized and a waste of money.
If the United States decided to “get tough” with China over Taiwan or Iran, China could tip our country into total economic collapse. Then we would have no jobs and no revenue for military spending. Our critical infrastructure (like factories, refineries, and labor force) would have a really hard time gearing up to back up our intentions. Our alliances in tatters, it would be difficult to get international support. And with our military in its current state, due to ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, we would have a hard time getting off the starting blocks.
It makes no sense to borrow money from China to build expensive experimental weapons. We live in a world where economics, knowledge, and PR are critical pieces of defense strategy.
I think it is refreshing to see a presidential candidate who wants to spend rationally, rebuild America, and restore our alliances. I care about Iraqis, but we need to focus on what is shaping up with China and Russia.

Obama plans to withdraw from Iraq in a manner that will completely surrender all American strategic interests there.
He plans to telegraph to our enemies that we will no longer aggressively pursue military technology.
He will completely abandon all strategic missile defense leaving the US open to nuclear blackmail.
He will surrender US nuclear advantage.
He will negotiate with allies who depend on US strength from a position of weakness.
To argue that somehow that course of action would better allow the US to deal with China is beyond ignorant and into the realm of flat out stupidity.

Look, I’m just saying that we had one vision of leadership for 8 years, and we are now in a weaker strategic position than we’ve been in for a very long time. Now, China is loaning us the money to finance the war, our defense system, and is providing an increasingly level of industrial support for our high-tech weaponry.

First off, to claim that China is “lending” the US money is to grossly over simplify the situation. China, like the rest of the world, has bought dollars as a secure, stable repository of wealth in an insecure world. China “lends” the US money the same way you “lend” a company money when you purchase a Blue Chip stock. You are not engaging in charity, you are investing in a equity in which you expect a return. The belief that China “lends” the US money like they are a strip-mall pay day loan joint is pure moonbattery.
Second, the entire defense budget is less than half the funds spent on Social Security and Medicare. The left seems to have no problem whatsoever with that type of spending and consistently attempts to increase it without wetting their pants over Chinese debt.
Finally, the dismemberment of the defense capabilities of the United States advocated by Obama would significantly diminish the ability of the US to protect power and defend its interests around the globe. It would also diminish the ability of the US to defend itself against all enemies.
The moonbat China-lends-us-money stalking horse is irrelevant.

This ad can not be run, Obama is not heard in this ad approving it. Whoops guys that happens to be a federal election law.
Anyway, if this ad is genuine it sounds as though he wants to work on spending for proliferation and return to a sane fiscal policy.

Secondly, “JM is a bore and looks tired” is an excellent reason not to elect McCain. Sort of like Obama looking “young and black” as a relevant reason why he should be elected…

Would we rather China be invested in our prosperity and that of the planet or isolated and paranoid and armed.
We send them money and they send it back. The benefits we have had in improvement in our lifestyle far outweigh the return on their investment.

China, like Spears, doesn’t manufacture goods that put Americans out of work. Over the last several years both the number of employed Americans and the amount of goods imported from China are at all time highs. Think about that, will ya?
More Americans are working than ever before.

International trade is good for the economies of all parties who take part. Look up the term “comparative advantage.” Then repeat to yourself “Trade is good. Trade is good.”

Working at Walmart hardly counts as a job. I mean, people work there, but they aren’t exactly paid. Free trade just sucks.
A great microcosm of the larger policy is NAFTA. NAFTA was a bipartisan effort and has been a real tragedy. NAFTA has increased illegal immigration by hastening urbanization in Mexico. It has driven down our standard of living. And has made us more dependent on foreign manufacturing.
I wish that more Republicans were a little nationalistic. I just can’t see the sense of being an internationalist in foreign policy and trade policy.

No BT, free trade doesn’t suck. Free trade is a wonderful thing that we at the Real Revo support wholeheartedly. Here is why. Unlike you, we understand economics. We know, as do the broad consensus of economists in the United States, that free trade is a huge and obvious net gain for society. We agree with Harvard economics professor Gregory Mankiw who said, “Few propositions command as much consensus among professional economists as that open world trade increases economic growth and raises living standards.” We understand the concepts of both comparative and absolute advantage in the production of goods and why free trade creates markets larger than the sum of the parts.
Sure, free trade has winners and losers and I can tell you are a loser. But over all, it is beyond debate that the net good for society created by free trade is real and significant.
You know, BT, it generally helps when discussing a topic that you know something about it. It is clear you know virtually nothing about this topic and are now reduced to tossing out populist platitudes about Walmart and NAFTA. That stuff looks cute on that bumper sticker on your Ford Focus but trust me when I tell you this: The readers of the Real Revo are not sympathetic. First, as I have pointed out on many occasions, the preamble of the Declaration of Independence stipulates a right to life, liberty and the PURSUIT of happiness – not a guarantee of happiness. {HINT FOR BT: If there was indeed a guarantee then there would be no need to ‘pursue’ it—-kinda tricky how that works, huh?}
There’s not supposed to be a ‘guarantee’ of a good job, success, wealth or personal happiness; rather, you have to EARN those things (at least for now). But, instead of vigorously PURSUING happiness in the form of rewarding employment, education or financial security, Americans now just prefer that the government PROVIDE it.
So, BT, go PURSUE something better than Wal-Mart. But it means you might have to sacrifice. It means you might have to invest in yourself. It means you might have to expend effort. And, just so we’re clear, even if you do all of those things there is still no guarantee that you will succeed. That’s called opportunity in a free market, and what America was built on. Quit looking to others – including the collective of others called “the government” to fix everything for you. The rest of us are tired of the perpetual mantra of “I’m unhappy. Fix it for me” mentality of the liberal set.
Secondly, were you kidnapped and forced into employment at Wal-Mart? I doubt it. Rather, they needed a job to be done, and offered a specific wage to do it. You (or whomever) agreed to that job and that wage. They needed the work done, and you needed the money –seems like and open and honest exchange of value to me. So I’ll leave you with a passage from a favorite author and a favorite book. I think you can pick up a copy at Wal-Mart.

When Carter had his first sit-down with the joint chiefs, he actually said that he wanted to see a plan drawn up to reduce the entire US nuc force to 200 ballistic missiles.
