I guess the Bush bashing has been getting old. Obama has turned to hacking in Rutherford B. Hayes. Here is Obama…
One of my predecessors, Rutherford B. Hayes, reportedly said about the telephone, ‘It’s a great invention, but who would ever want to use one?’ That’s why he’s not on Mt. Rushmore because he’s looking backwards. He’s not looking forwards. He’s explaining why we can’t do something, instead of why we can do something.”
It turns out that Hayes quote is, to put it succinctly, bullshit. He never said it. The allegation that he did is pretty much slanderous. Hayes, on first using a telephone, described the experience as “wonderful.” He also met with Alexander Graham Bell, was the first president to have a telephone installed in the White House and promoted its use by various means. A complete debunking of Obama’s bullshit can be found at the Washington Post.
In any case, a president who believes that automatic teller machines destroy jobs and who still carries a Blackberry really isn’t in any position to criticize the technological credentials of other presidents.

Here is a quote that isn’t bullshit…
As long as we are talking about Mt. Rushmore worthiness, let’s see how Hayes stacks up against Obama. Here is Hayes Exhibit #1:
Hayes left a successful political career to join the Union Army during the Civil War. Wounded five times, most seriously at the Battle of South Mountain, he earned a reputation for bravery in combat and was promoted to the rank of major general.
Care to match that Obama?
Here is Hayes Exhibit #2:
Hayes pledged to serve only one term as president and kept his promise and did not run for reelection in 1880.
Please match that Obama!
O’Bama is president NOW, he wouldn’t have had time during his election years to get shot up 5 or 6 times just so’s he could go and lay around in a hospital instead of the White House…..look what it did for Lincoln and Kennedy, amongst others.
Kennedy, a supposed war hero (he lost the boat) was hoisted into the White House by Joe Kennedy’s connections with the Mafia, thanks to Franko Sinatra…..all historically recorded.
Exhibit #3:
Hayes was president when the #1 terrorist was killed known as Billy the Kid.
Exhibit #4:
It was well known that First Lady, Lucy Hayes, had quite a bit of “junk in her trunk.”
See? There are similarities.
Hilarious!
