Israel Claims Credit For Stuxnet Virus, Says Obama Is Lying

An article in Atlantic Wire titled ‘Israeli Spies Want Credit For Stuxnet‘ lays it out.

Israel’s officials have a message for anyone praising the CIA for its sophisticated cyber attack on Iran: It was our baby. The Stuxnet computer worm, described by David Sanger in The New York Times last week as an invention by the Bush administration, was actually developed by Mossad, according to Israeli officials speaking with Haaretz journalist Yossi Melman on condition of anonymity:

The Israeli officials actually told me a different version. They said that it was Israeli intelligence that began, a few years earlier, a cyberspace campaign to damage and slow down Iran’s nuclear intentions. And only later they managed to convince the USA to consider a joint operation — which, at the time, was unheard of.”

Obama’s attempt to make himself look manly is being emasculated by the Israelis. He should never have snubbed Bibi. This new week doesn’t look like it will be a good one for Obama either. That’s three in a row, isn’t it?

That explosion of embarrassment is so figgin huge I think I got a little on me. Dayum!

  2. Notamobster says:

Obammy seems to be taking mucho flak.

  3. Uke says:

Goddamn, heh. This is no small deal (even though it’s not getting a lot of news, that I can tell). It is yet another case of our administration taking credit for something it had NOTHING to do with… and then getting called out on it.

    I love it.

Also in the news: Obama takes credit for federal spending slowdowns because of GOP blocking.

Oh, and the XL Pipeline section that he had nothing to do with.

    And the underwear bomber.

    And Osama.

    And, and, and…

The comprehensive list of things Obama takes credit for, but has little/nothing to do with would be quite lengthy indeed.

Honestly, I expected that this was Israel’s genius all along. That said, I don’t see what Israel has to benefit from claiming the credit that they are rightly due.

Obama claiming credit gives Iran reason to divide their hate on the U.S. and Israel … now Iran can focus 100% on Israel.

On a highly advanced and secretive project, isn’t it better to NOT lay your cards on the table if you don’t have to?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad Obama was called out. For Israel’s sake, I just don’t see how this was the best move though.
