Up in NoDak, Paula Broadwell’s dad says it is all a smokescreen.
Broadwell’s father said Sunday his daughter is the victim of character assassination and implied the bombshell story is just a smoke screen for something bigger.
“This is about something else entirely, and the truth will come out,” Broadwell’s dad, Paul Krantz, told the Daily News outside his home in Bismarck, N.D.
“There is a lot more that is going to come out,” said Krantz, claiming he was not allowed to elaborate. “You wait and see. There’s a lot more here than meets the eye.”
Whatever the case, Victor Davis Hansen has some important questions.
How exactly did national-security and military affairs come to resemble Keeping Up with the Kardashians?
How can some individual just call up an FBI friend (?) and thereby instigate an FBI investigation? And how did that lead to an FBI agent photographing himself bare-chested and apparently infatuated with a married mother of three? How can a Ph.D. candidate, without any journalistic or historical credentials, become the public face of a four-star general and be privy to information to the point of hitting the lecture circuit to pontificate about a CIA annex in Benghazi? How did an early-middle-aged married mother of two suddenly morph into a court biographer who lectured on everything from military practice to leadership to national-security challenges? How can a Florida socialite by any stretch of the imagination merit a vast e-mail correspondence with the nation’s highest ranking warriors entrusted to conduct our most critical struggles? What in the world is an “honorary consul general” and who extends such Alice Through the Looking Glass titles? Why do generals seek to go back stage to meet a Denzel Washington or have Angelina Jolie pop up for a photo-op?
Indeed.
So what is it? A big diversion? Bad reality television at the highest levels of the military?
I suspect some of both A and B.

Surveillance video at CENTCOM in Tampa Florida and at CIA headquarters, Langley Virginia…
I’m entirely serious, here. I think we’re going to find out that Benghazi was a secret CIA prison site.
I read it yesterday on the internet. It must be true. I think it may be true.
hey look squirrel having sex….
prisoner facility, torture, gun running to syria, who really knows, obviously half of the country does not care, for those who do
hey look squirrel.
Does anyone else but me have that out of it feeling you get when you wake up suddenly from a really deep sleep? Stuff is going on around you but you just can’t quite wrap your mind around it yet? That mental “fuzzy” feeling???
Every day when I hear about new crazy shit unfolding I have to pinch myself to make sure I’m not a permanent resident of bizzaroworld.
This is shaping up to be one crazy ride.
@AWMens
I feel exactly that way. What scares me the most is that I am starting to get apathetic. I don’t care, because I am powerless to do anything about it.
That sucks, because that is a win for the dark side.
Immuanuel Kant:
Petraeus to testify. Now that he’s taken the blackmail leverage off the table let’s see what he has to say. I hope he’s got some private security employed.
JD: He has a problem. When he wasn’t under oath he towed the “it was just a protest about a video” line. Now he will be under oath.
Perhaps that’s why it went down the way it did. He did what he had to do to free himself from the coercion. Made the administration look pretty stoopid in the process too if you ask me. Nobody knows nuffin but they investigatin’ like a mofo…
I’d say he’s gone rogue, probably no love lost for the joker-in-chief and the administration wants him to STFU. That’s why I say I hope he’s hired some private security.
That would be awesome.
I am still sickened with the way people in power almost always become corrupted. I was disgusted when MoveOn called Petraeus “Betray Us”. It turns out that, in the end, he has betrayed us.
If Petraeus agrees to or is subpoenaed to testify, he may run into unexpected health issues if the trend continues.
This is so screwed up I’m having difficulty believing that it’s not orchestrated somehow. I’m not a conspiracy guy, but I have a hard time thinking of anything as wildly messed up as this is.
Tee Hee.
“The Benghazi story finally has legs. Lots of legs. We have way too many generals taking orders from their privates.”

RD:
Uhmmm … any more surveillance videos from CENTCOM in Tampa Florida and at CIA headquarters, Langley Virginia…?
Yah know … for national security reasons.
Really! Only that! I promise!
