A mandate to protect the middle class?

Stephanie Cutter says so.

Stephanie Cutter, who served as deputy campaign manager for Obama’s re-election effort, said that the president’s mandate after winning re-election “is to protect the middle class,” during an appearance on MSNBC’s “Daily Rundown.”

“His mandate is to protect the middle class and help people enter and stay in the middle class,” Cutter said. Adding that that means protecting programs like Medicaid.

I am not sure how protecting a means tested, welfare program protects the middle class. Unless, that is, being on the dole is the new normal for the middle class.

Whatever the case, a commentator on the linked site doesn’t agree with cutter as to the extent of the mandate.

I’d say it’s more like a mandate to go after the super wealthy who have brought our government, and had there taxes cut in half since Clinton. Gut those millionaires and billionaires like the pigs they are, lay open their financial bellies with a 100% tax rate scythe, make it retroactive for the last 30 years, and let the trillions they’ve hidden offshore roll out and revitalize the middle class, the people from whose pockets they stole it from in the first place.

Wow. That is very, very close. If only he would have said something about “filthy Jew Financiers”, that comment could have come right out of Mein Kampf. These guys have the language of the Kristallnacht nailed! All he needed was an illustration to go with his Nazi propaganda.

I’ve read similar comments on blogs. The crap of humanity are saying out loud what Obama is implementing incrementally.
