Republicans Are Un-democratic; Un-American

Thus spake Bernie Sanders (Vermont Socialist).

“In a time of disfunctionality in the Senate, and all kinds of absurdity, this probably takes the cake when you filibuster your own” bill, the self-described “democratic socialist” lawmaker told MSNBC’s Ed Schultz Friday evening. “The American people want action and it is undemocratic, it is unAmerican when a small minority can deny the majority from going forward.”

Sanders made the remarks after McConnell on Thursday called for a vote on legislation giving President Obama unilateral power to increase the nation’s borrowing limit, the so-called debt ceiling. McConnell had hoped to demonstrate that Republicans and Democrats alike oppose what he described as a “power grab” by the president, but he was forced to object to a simple majority vote after Democrats agreed to move forward.

The game-playing is frustrating to the nth degree, but to say that the filibuster is un-American? Undemocratic? Sure. Un-American to block legislation that would give the President unlimited authority to override the will of congress? Not a chance.

You mean like when the Selma Marchers and Freedom Riders kept the majority in the Jim Crow South from going forward with segregation? Is that sort of thing you are talking about Bernie?

And this is what conservatives should be pointing out.
Make the Dems own their history.
I think this is one of the things that should be part of the conservative MO going forward.
Stop being pussies, talk the talk and walk the walk.
And WTF was McConnell thinking bringing this to a vote? If he can’t see that the Dems really DO think that they call the shots, with out ANY input from Republicans, well then he’s a moron.

He was trying to point out that even retards democrats were against it. Then the retards tried to change the voting rules so they could pass it through parliamentary tricks, so he had to filibuster.

He was making a solid move, but Harry Reid tried to flank him. He burned the fort to keep the enemy from taking it.

  5. Roy Ryder says:

There isn’t a policy that Obama puts forth that the Democrats don’t buy into, even if the obvious consequence is horrific. They are lockstep in a conga line to hell and we’re being pulled along behind him.
