What If? It’s Not Probable, But It Is Possible

Given the current status of America as being in a State-of-Emergency since 2001 (renewed each year by W & Barry) and the recent proliferation of the use of executive orders, this scenario, while not probable – is altogether possible:

(Editor’s note: The following commentary by Joseph Farah is a hypothetical scenario, but one all-too-believable given the anti-gun hysteria in the media and here in the nation’s capital. It is offered in the spirit of what former White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel once said: “Never let a good crisis go to waste.”)

WASHINGTON – President Obama today issued a sweeping executive order banning the manufacture, sale and possession of all semi-automatic firearms in the U.S.

Obama cited for his authority for the action a national state of emergency that has been in effect ever since Sept. 11, 2001, and renewed annually by both President George W. Bush and Obama ever since. He also cited portions of the Patriot Act that suspend certain civil rights that remain classified.

The dramatic action by the president follows closely on the heels of the Newtown, Conn., massacre of 27 schoolchildren and teachers by Adam Lanza a week ago.

Gun-control advocates have been pushing for tighter gun control ever since the attack on the Sandy Hook Elementary School, the fourth mass shooting in the U.S. in 2012.

Yet the action was surprising because Obama vowed to present a detailed plan of action in January after naming Vice President Joe Biden to head a blue-ribbon panel including Cabinet members, law enforcement officials and various agencies of the government. Biden convened the first meeting of the panel only yesterday.

That’s how quickly it could happen.

That’s how liberty could be lost in America in one day.

For many, today was the day the world was supposed to end, according to the Mayan calendar and other ancient documents.

It didn’t, of course. But a scenario like the above would certainly change the world in an instant. The last great hope for mankind and freedom could be turned upside-down in the name of national security and safety.

Americans would no longer be the masters of their government, as the founders intended. They would become subjects of their government, as most people in the world have been since the beginning of time.

It might seem implausible, unthinkable, far-fetched – even un-American and, of course, unconstitutional – but has anything like that that ever stopped Barack Obama before?

Am I suggesting this will happen?

Am I suggesting it could happen?

And that’s why I am putting it out there for the American people.

    Look at it this way.
Even if 90% of gun owners roll over on that, that leaves what,
a million people (and I’ll bet that’s conservative) that aren’t.
    Know what I mean?

  2. Uke says:

I’m not sure I even consider it (reasonably) possible. A man would have to have a death wish in order to pull something like that in a country where there are 2-300 million privately owned firearms.

I can’t even imagine the shit storm that would occur in at least 30 statehouses. This might cause a civil war. It would definitely cause a civil cold war.

    • Buzzdaddy says:

I think we’re already in a cold war of sorts; the run on guns and ammo by civilians versus the massive purchase of ammo by various Federal agencies as well as the show of force we’ve seen such as mobile VIPR teams.

  4. TN-Cat says:

Lets continue on the what if premise that all semi automatic guns were banned. What would happen?
I see Texas taking swift action and executing plan B. Yes succession.

Next, I see Arizona acting. Not succeeding but expanding their state militia. Not just because Governor Brewer has the balls of a rhino but out of necessity. They are on the front lines and would be at the mercy of the cartels that would love the opportunity to expand. Not surprisingly, the ranks of the state militia would grow to the same level of all semi automatic gun owners.

Next action following the lead of Arizonians would be the large group of southern States :LA, AL, MS, MO, TN. Would only spread from there. At some point it could spread to all 35 red States under Republican governors. And there wouldn’t be a damnable thing the Federal Government could do about it. The States may have given a lot of sovereignty

    • TN-Cat says:

Back to the feds but they still have the tools needed to oppose tyranny.

    • AFB says:

I think Oklahoma will act before the other states on the list. Probably even before AZ. Not sure if the action would include secession. However, if one state secedes, others will follow.

If I could have my druthers, I’d favor the creation of a Red State zone and a Blue State zone. Hey, a girl can dream, right?

  5. notamobster says:

Yeah, Uke – you would have to have a death wish, or think yourself invincible, able to act through presidential fiat, and smarter than everyone else…

    • Uke says:

Well thank God Barry doesn’t have a death wish then!

      … At least, I don’t don’t think he has one. >_>

Wasn’t sure where else to post, but I wanted to make sure

We The People must be reminded that in 1760, “The shot fired and heard around the world” was against one of that ages most formidable World Powers – Britannia.

Another important word from that era is – Militias. A people armed, disorganized but of one mind willing to “do whatever it takes” to rid American soil of tyranny-Britannia.

Fast forward to 2013. Conditions are not much different than those of the 1770’s. A USA populace siding with anti-colonists, willing to listen and follow orders issued from afar, tyrannical and without rhyme or reason – today’s USA Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches in We The Elite People of culture of corruption in Washington DC.

Conclusion: Just like in the 1770’s We The People will have to form into “militias!” In other words a People, armed, (dis)organized, but of one mind “to do whatever it takes” to rid American soil of tyranny (greed, power and corruption) – New Left Progressive Marxists and socialists.Pray. Amen.

And just how would shch an order be enforced? Many in local law enforcement would refuse to obey such an order, especially in rural red States, and I don’t think there enough Federal agents to do the job. Even at least some of the military would be reluctant to fire on their fellow citizens…remember the “Oath Takers.”
