Bob Owens: “If This Becomes Law, There Will Be War.”

Bob Owens writes for himself and PJ Media. He lays out what is known of Diane Feinstein’s Gun Control Bill. He makes a solid case.

I still believe in the ballot box. If this hot mess were to pass, we should rely upon the electoral process, as established in our Constitution and seek repeal, amendment, or de-funding. I do not want to go to war with my own countrymen. Not now. Not ever. As messed up as things are these days, there’s no telling what might be heading our way in the next 4 years. I would strongly urge each and every one of you to know exactly where your lines in the sand are and know exactly what you are willing to fight for.

None of the words below are mine.

I’d heard that California gun-grabber Dianne Feinstein was going to attempt to use the tiny caskets of the victims of the Newtown school shooting to reintroduce a revised “assault weapons” ban for more stringent than the original bill that was in effect from 1994-2004. That law that failed so spectacularly that it has the effect of mainstreaming the firearms it was attempting to ban, and created the conditions that inspired both the creation of  the class of sub-compact semi-automatic pistols and the ever-widening expansion of concealed carry laws.

Feinstein’s proposed revision has not been released in it’s entirety, but the summary tells us much of the gun control agenda she will attempt to force upon American citizens.

  • Stops the sale, transfer, importation and manufacturing of more than 100 specifically-named firearms as well as certain semiautomatic rifles, handguns and shotguns that can accept a detachable magazine and semiautomatic rifles and handguns with a fixed magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds.
  • Stops the sale, transfer, importation and manufacturing of large-capacity ammunition feeding devices (magazines, strips and drums) capable of accepting more than 10 rounds.
  • Protects legitimate hunters and the rights of existing gun owners by:
    • grandfathering weapons legally possessed on the date of enactment;
    • exempting more than 900 specifically-named weapons used for hunting and sporting purposes; and
    • exempting antique, manually-operated, and permanently disabled weapons.

The would-be tyrant’s intent appears to be a fatal blow to the essential core of the Second Amendment, removing from the public those firearms of contemporary military utility that the Founders clearly wanted in the hands of citizens to defend against enemies both foreign, and domestic.

Here’s the breakdown point-by-point.

The intention is clear: to ban most, if not all, semi-automatic firearms in the United States. The vast majority of self-loading rifles use detachable magazines, from the ubiquitous Ruger 10/22 rimfire to America’s favorite AR-15, to “deer rifles” like the Browning BAR and Remington 742. The law would apparently ban ALL semi-automatic pistols as well. It is a direct assault on the explicit intention of the Second Amendment as written by the Founding Fathers.

  • Stops the sale, transfer, importation and manufacturing of large-capacity ammunition feeding devices (magazines, strips and drums) capable of accepting more than 10 rounds.

Building upon the fascist tendency banning the most common rifles and pistols in America and virtually every firearm of possible contemporary military utility, Feinstein would criminalize any American who attempted to sell, transfer, import or manufacture the magazines used by these firearms, presumably including those who attempt to repair their existing magazines.

  • Protects legitimate hunters and the rights of existing gun owners by:
    • grandfathering weapons legally possessed on the date of enactment;
    • exempting more than 900 specifically-named weapons used for hunting and sporting purposes; and
    • exempting antique, manually-operated, and permanently disabled weapons.

  1. R.D. Walker says:

I don’t see this passing the House of Representatives.

    • Disavowed 1 says:

I don’t either, if it does fail, all Obama will have to do is open his desk drawer, remove the UN ATT and sign it and ALL guns in America are banned.
Either way, their ultimately going for a full confiscation, mark my words. Buy more ammo and or guns to arm your household. The Red Coats are here, they never left.

  2. CM Dutch says:

I didn’t see obummer care as passing either!

  3. notamobster says:

I didn’t see SCOTUS upholding ObamaCare. I didn’t see Allen West losing his seat in Florida. I didn’t see Barry getting re-upped as Preezy. Looks like I haven’t been able to see a lot of stuff.

That said, I definitely think this is a bridge way too far for 95% of all congressional Republicans.

    • R.D. Walker says:

Yeah, no kidding. My political predictions have been pretty lame lately. Still, most Republicans would oppose this as would at least a few Democrats… unless I am wrong… again.

      • Uke says:

It’s like you’ve acquired too much optimism and faith in your fellow man.

Clearly you need to tone it down a notch. ;)

        • R.D. Walker says:

Yeah, right? What’s up with that? That’s not like me. Must be the Holy Spirit or something because I sure as hell don’t roll that way by myself.

    • Disavowed 1 says:

SCOTUS approved it as a congressional purse string tax. You keep up with the news?

      • notamobster says:

Click on the link that says “notamobster” on the right sidebar. Come back. Ask again, if I keep up with the news.

As for your inference, look at the thread of comments directly preceding mine. It will give you proper context for my comment.

  4. Disavowed 1 says:

If they pass any gun regulation which turns into registration or confiscation, it”s going to be a bad day for everyone. DO NOT GIVE UP YOUR 2A. The 1A will disappear with it, they recipicate and ensure eachother.

Check the site out while you’re here. You may be among friends. ;-)

  6. Jim22 says:

I do know that there are an awful lot of Americans who are itching for a civil war. They call themselves the 3 percent. If they start something they will be put down. Then we will get martial law.

  7. notamobster says:

They are absolutely a fool. That doesn’t change the fact that there are a great many, just itching for a fight. The people who want that fight, haven’t run the consequences through their logical paces. If they had, they would see the death & destruction, the utter waste laid to our nation. To want that – very foolish, indeed.

    • Jim22 says:

Yes. And it will cause the media and most of the Congress, along with about half of America to call for martial law. President Obama will have no choice. He will have to go with it.
