Should This Have Happened?

Two brothers killed because they were going blind. I support the right of those who are suffering, terminally, to end their life with some dignity. I don’t support people being able to request lethal injection for any reason they see fit. I certainly don’t support allowing the state to decide whose request is worthy of a needle and whose isn’t. I don’t support state-administered killing of it’s citizens.

A pair of identical twins, who were born deaf, have been killed by Belgian doctors after seeking euthanasia when they found out they would also soon go blind.

In a unique case under the country’s euthanasia laws, the 45-year-old brothers, from Antwerp, chose death as they were unable to bear the thought of never seeing one another again.

They were euthanised by doctors at Brussels University Hospital, in Jette, on December 14 by lethal injection after spending their entire lives together.

It seems to me that a man who is capable of ending his life and desires to do so, should not ask another man to carry the burden of doing what he should be doing for himself.
