Is “Anonymous” on our side on this one?

Strange bedfellows? Here is the Guy Fawkes mask wearing organization.

The international hacktivist group Anonymous today warned of “insurrection in America” as the government controls and twists the narrative on gun-related incidents.

Known for the Guy Fawkes masks worn at protests, Anonymous has styled itself as an anti-authority crusader against government corruption and lack of transparency, and supported the Occupy protests. And now the hackers are stepping into the gun control debate, warning in a lengthy message today that “throughout history authoritarian governments have used gun violence as an excuse to take peoples firearms and control there population.”

“Obama has been working hard to try and ban semi-automatic weapons and shotguns while at the same time increasing the weapons and firepower that police and government agencies have. Within minutes of the Connecticut shooting, politicians were on the state run media saying it was time to get rid of the guns and they will be talking about it for weeks to come,” Anonymous wrote on its blog. “The Obama administration and his government funded media have been promoting this idea for months. Everytime there is a shooting performed by a crazy person the media talks about it non-stop for weeks or months. But when there is an illegal or unlawful shooting by police that does not fit Obama’s agenda the story is barely mentioned.”

Libertarianisn, when followed to it’s logical end point, finds it’s roots in anarchy. Similarly, the far left finds the roots of democracy in mob rule. Ultimately, humans exist (in a state of nature) in an anarchistic state. Both ends of the spectrum find their roots in anarchy. It’s not inconceivable, that our objectives would align some times.

Besides, just because you’re a lefty, doesn’t mean you have to subscribe to all of the tenets of the faith.

Exactly. It saddens me that the American Civil Liberties Union isn’t perfectly aligned with the NRA.

I was wondering how long that was going to take.
Anonymous realizes that authoritarian regimes will brutalize dissenters first, before turning attention to the general populace.
They also must know that even though common ground between they and us (generalizing, here) is small, it is OUR armed defiance to tyranny that keeps the wolves at bay.

This video looks suspicious. I am wary. It follows too closely to the mantra of progun forums.

    • R.D. Walker says:

Since Anonymous is a decentralized, leaderless organization without actual membership or ideological requirements, a pro-gun that calls itself “Anonymous” and dons the Guy Fawkes mask would be as legitimate as any other part of the non-organization… right?

My prospective on what started this whole thing.

The Sandy Hook tragedy and how it is being utilized.

It is about who gets shot and how fast they get shot. It is about how some utilize a crisis to advance an agenda.

In 2012 Chicago had 20 “Sandy Hooks” one person at a time. 532 murdered in a year. Some of the men most capable of addressing the issue; Reverend Jessie Jackson, Minister Al Sharpton, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, and President Obama hardly mentioned a gun.

Murder 26 in the white community of Newtown, CT and Emanuel, Jackson, Sharpton and Obama are ranting “gun control”.

They just ain’t keepin’ it real.
