How Is California Chasing Business Away?

By targeting them. It seems that whenever the statists discover private enterprise they mercilessly attack it. They do that with taxation. I know that the state and most of its cities are running deficits in their budgets. That’s because of spending.

The administrators don’t want to reduce spending. Instead they want to Increase income through fees and taxes. But, as RD has said many times, actions have unintended consequences. In the case of California wealthy people like Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods are moving out. Businesses are leaving or closing down.

The added costs of these fees and taxes will be borne by the few businesses that remain. That will make their products and services, necessarily, more expensive.

We see an excellent example each year as we pass from Arizona into California at Needles. The gas stations have their fuel prices posted for all to see. Gas in Needles is a dollar higher than it is in Bullhead City nearby. Tax differentials make the difference.

While Republicans contemplate how to improve their party’s political performance at the Republican National Committee (RNC) winter meeting, which opens today, Democrats are already taking politics to a new level, creating parallel organizations to advocate for President Barack Obama’s agenda and using their political clout to rearrange private business relationships to their liking. American politics has never seen anything like it.

Politico reports today that major donors–including billionaire George Soros (above), bailout beneficiary Citi and others–were approached by Obama campaign veterans to donate millions to Organizng for America, the president’s new 501(c)4 non-profit advocacy group. Under the tax code, 501(c)4 groups do not have to disclose their donors–a provision, ironically, that President Obama spent years campaigning against.
Tea Partiers and Teavangelicals MUST do likewise…plus a GoPac to this…if not…We The Elite People of culture of corruption in Washington DC will foist their agenda off on We The People of:1)greed, 2) power and 3) corruption…with a little bit of crony-capitalism thrown-in. George Soros has praised Obama for Bernankes having kept Quantitative Easing operational during BHO’s first term in office. Anyone thinks taxes aren’t going to be affected upon America’s “great unwashed.” HAH! California Dreamin’.Pray. Amen.
