New American: “Gun Owners Refuse to Register Under New York Law”

Here is how it starts. American gun owners know that an unconstitutional law is no law at all. We also have a tradition of resisting tyranny.

The actions of a bunch of lawless state legislators will not be followed by the people. By passing their new law they have made honest, law abiding citizens criminals. The people understand… if they are criminals they will disobey the law.

An attempt to disarm citizens will not work. It has been shown time and again that people have guns in even the most legally gun-free areas. Chicago and New York city have the strongest gun laws. So does the entire country of Mexico. In those places it is not just illegal to have a gun but the consequences are severe. Still the people keep guns. It’s just those who obey the laws who don’t. The unarmed become victims of the armed criminals. Those criminals may be civilians or they may be police or military. History has shown that all groups in power become corrupt when the people are defenseless.

From New American:

After Democrats in New York rammed a sweeping assault on the right to keep and bear arms through the legislature that failed to exempt police officers from the draconian restrictions, gun owners and even some lawmakers are planning what has been dubbed potentially the largest act of civil disobedience in state history. According to news reports, gun rights activists are urging everyone to defy far-left Governor Andrew Cuomo’s new registration mandate while daring authorities to “come and take it.”

Analysts say the legislation, passed in a frenzy last week in the wake of the Newtown shooting, represents the most brazen infringement on the right to keep and bear arms anywhere in the nation. Among other points, the so-called SAFE Act seeks to limit magazines to just seven bullets, require virtually all of the estimated one million semi-automatic rifles in the state to be registered with authorities, mandate reporting of patients who express indications that they may have thoughts about hurting themselves or others by doctors, and more.

Aside from being unconstitutional, experts on gun violence also point out that the draconian schemes are a bad idea: Studies have repeatedly shown that more guns lead to less crime, and the phenomenon is obvious across America — just compare Chicago or D.C. to Alaska or Wyoming. The mandated reporting requirements for doctors, meanwhile, have come under fire from across the political spectrum. Whether it will even be possible to enforce the bill, however, remains to be seen.”

The progression of this in ny state will be interesting. When low numbers show up to register, what will be the response. I’m sure they will threaten and talk louder, but what then. Will they make a test case on somebody with loose lips? Will the up-state hunters and gun keepers get tired of being held in contempt? Will they demand a house cleaning in albany? The state of ny has headed down a road with no end, no tunnel and no light. We should watch closely.

  2. Uke says:

I’m watching closely because this could effectively serve as a test tube simulation for a nationwide version of the same thing.

Not a perfect simulation, of course, but it certainly holds the potential for a decent one, especially if we eventually allow ourselves to become largely just as disarmed (and metrapolitanized) as NY has gotten.

You can bet that the more intelligent leftists are studying this just as I am.

    • notamobster says:

We’re the only ones watching this closely, as a test case. Sure, SOME of them are, but only the ones who deliberately seek to disarm Americans. The rank & file leftists just expect the rabble to follow like timid, industrious sheep. They can’t see the world operating any other way.

I know a liberal who complained that one shoe bomber caused her to have to take her shoes off, but 32 school shootings since Columbine and no new regs on guns.

I said that I don’t remember reading the part of the Constitutionthat reads “the right of the people to fly without security measures shall not be infringed”. Flying is a voluntary activity. My right to defend my family is not.

        “Sure it is.” she said…

Nota, at this point, you must have a headache from continuously slapping yoru forehead with the palm of your hand. I know that is my reaction when trying to explain a point logically to a liberal.

NY is definitely a test bed. That I believe. IF citizens give in, the Feds WILL go nationwide.
As far as trying to explain our Natural Rights to leftists, it’s a waste of breath.
I only have one thing to say to pinko bastards. One thing only.
            There’s a fight coming.

It’s no joke, I know a guy facing up to 30 years for possessing 5 30 round mags for an AR. Even though the trial is still underway, the cops have already seized his guns. Keep in mind that just because this is a test bed there are still real lives involved. The other side is even though there are so many gun owners compared to federal agents, we are already losing needed people and the longer this “test tube” drags out, the more qualified guys we lose before a potential fight even starts.

  4. Dennis Habern says:

One thing is certain, no matter what the consequences, the
American people must not give in to the Feds, because to do so,
is to be left naked in the street, with no means to retaliate against
a corrupt and rogue government that now occupies Wasington, D.C., if you follow. New York State is the same kind of test-bed
that the Moron in the White House, during the 2010 Christmas
vacation, rammed through the Senate his signature policy delineated as “OBAMACARE,” a medical policy that Americans do
not want, therefore, why should Americans be responsible for
paying for such a dinosaur. It’s the Moron that currently takes up
space in the White House’s idea, therefore, permit him to pay for
it. This miserable closet, un-American Muslim is not an American
citizen, therefore, he maintains no regard for we Americans, nor for our country, but rather, he associates himself with Communists, Anarchists, Marxists, Socialists and Criminals and uses the writings of Saul Alinsky, a known Communist and not to
forget his close association with George Soros, the ex-Nazi
collaborator during World War Two in his native Hungary, for which
none of Soros’ enterprises are permitted to operate in Hungary.

Just to add some thing the legislature also failed to exempt military. The post up state some of you my heard of it (Fort Drum, NY) its an Infantry Division. A lot of guys own guns in the Army and live of post where the store there 7 issued 30 round magazins. Just saying something to think about

  5. Gary Payne says:

The police and the military should not be exempt. A law is supposed to apply to everyone equally or it is not a law. In reality, we all should be exempt. These so called laws should never have even been considered.

The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution (As I see it.)

It seems to me that the simple use of a dictionary fully explains the God given rights guaranteed under the Second Amendment of the Constitution of the United States.

    2nd Amendment:

A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

A well (successful or effective) regulated (accurate and properly functioning) Militia(An army composed of ordinary citizens rather than professional soldiers) being necessary to the security (Freedom from risk or danger; safety) of a free ( Not imprisoned or enslaved; being at liberty. Not controlled by obligation or the will of another) State, (the condition or circumstances of a person or thing, a sovereign political power or community, the territory of such a community) the right (a freedom or power that is morally or legally due to a person) of the people to keep (To retain possession, have a supply of or maintain for use or service.) and bear (To carry from one place to another; transport.) Arms (weapons considered collectively. Any instrument or instrumentality used in fighting or hunting. The term (or) not being preceded by the word either means that both fighting and hunting are applicable, not either one or the other), shall not be infringed. (To transgress, violate, defeat, invalidate or encroach on someone or something;.

Therefore according to the definitions of the words as they were used should have meant the following.

A successful, effective, accurate and properly functioning army of ordinary citizens, being necessary to maintain the freedom of the people or the nation from anyone or any government trying to take away that freedom, the moral and legal freedom or power of the people to possess, have a supply of or carry or transport weapons or any instrument used in fighting or hunting, shall not be transgressed, violated, defeated, invalidated or encroached upon.

As far as I can tell by the definitions of the words used in the 2nd Amendment the Federal, State or Local Governments may not tell the people what type of weapons they may have, or how many weapons they may have, nor how or what weapons they may transport with them. Nor may they make any laws, regulations or bans concerning what weapons a person chooses to own or how and where they choose to transport them. In other words there are to be no infringements on this right whatsoever. If a person were to use those weapons in the commission of a crime then the governments may prosecute them according to law. However, maintaining our freedom is not only, not a crime, it is the duty of every American.

Sealed pelican case, you bury it next to the septic tank. The iron rod in the tank throws off everything but ground penetrating types of equipment. Metal detectors will just go nuts next to the tank.
    Trust me…….
