House Democrats led by Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) have introduced legislation that would create a federal Department of Peacebuilding, which would be tasked with everything from finding ways to scale back U.S. military actions to ending bullying at schools.

Under her bill, H.R. 808, the new department would be led by a Cabinet-level Secretary of Peacebuilding, who would have a seat on the National Security Council. The department would be “dedicated to peacebuilding, peacemaking, and the study and promotion of conditions conducive to both domestic and international peace and a culture of peace.”

Hell, I thought the USMC was the Department of Peacebuilding.

That is exactly what we need: Another new massive, centralized bureaucracy. It’s not like we are broke or anything. We have money to burn!

  2. Bman says:

That’s nice. I’ve always said we needed a Department of Friendship…

  3. Roy Ryder says:

This kind of thing is resurrected every now and then by wiley politicians as a sop to appease deluded leftists and retarded adolescents (but I repeat myself). Lee knows it doesn’t have a chance in hell but knows that her constituents will be pleased by it because they were the ones stupid enough to vote for her in the first place.

They can make a video tape and sell it on msnbc. “HIPPIES GONE WILD”

  5. Uke says:

In all seriousness, what do these guys think the State Department is? Too violent?
