Go Rand, Go!

KCChiefsCLer

Does it reveal me as a political nerd insider if I get motivated about Senator Rand Paul hitting the filibuster hard? First real filibuster we’ve had in a decade? A filibuster that is actually bipartisan, and unites both left and right?

Don’t care if it does reveal me as such. This may be politics at its most arcane, but it’s also brutally honest… and frighteningly revealing. Played well–as I’d argue Paul is playing this–a filibuster can be a goddamned halogen light on injustices. I am absolutely thrilled he’s stepping up in this manner. And I won’t even dare speak what my hope is going forward after this.

Rand Paul filibusters Senate in order to force Nobel Peace Prize winning president to declare whether or not he has the right to use drones to kill American citizens.

    Film at eleven.

    • Uke says:

Nobel Laureate (and Lightbringer) Barack Obama won’t actually feel forced to do such a thing as respond to this, of course. He’s got more important things to do.

Like keep that damned tour out of the White House.

I mean, who do those Thompsons think they are anyway?

  2. notamobster says:

I think it’s awesome. I love Rand Paul. During his remarks, he said “If there was one ounce of courage in this chamber, I would be joined by Senators from both parties today!”

Love it! The cheerleader chick is also way hotter than you, RD.

  3. Greg B says:

Now, if only the rest of them would sack-up and get in line for their turn.

  4. Rockheim says:

I was watching him on and off all afternoon and this evening. It really has been something to see and hear. I’m glad I was able to see it.

He just yeilded the floor a few mins ago. A nonstop savaging of the Admin’s policy. What remains to be seen now is how/if the MSM will bury this to protect the one and what his response will be.. If any..

  5. Greg says:

13 hours (rounded up). Should still be going by all the GOP, but no…. weak knee’d sons of bitches, besides Ted Cruz.

    My buddy from Kentucky!

  7. R.D. Walker says:

Damn. This almost makes me wonder if Rand Paul is wrong on this… almost. I have never before been aligned with this cretin.

  8. R.D. Walker says:

When he yielded, Paul was greeted with a standing ovation from the observation gallery. The chair banged his gavel and called repeatedly for order, reminded those in attendance that expressions of approval or disapproval are not allowed in the United States Senate.
