Russia seems like a MadBrad kind of place.

Speaking of Brad. Last weekend we had a big day on Saturday on Lake Superior. The water was calm and the winds were light. We set the sails and engaged the auto helm. We referred to the invisible seaman on the wheel as Otto von Helm. He never tired.

Since all was well, the adults met on the deck of the bow of the boat and started with the Bloody Marys at about noon. By the time we reached Devil’s Island, we were quite comfortable.

We loaded three boys an three men in the motor dinghy and went for spin through the caves.

After a while we came to a motor-less dinghy with a bunch of old hippy / college professor types in it. Since I thought they would get a literary reference and because I was Bloody Mary buzzed I shouted out.

“Ahoy! Hast seen the white whale?!”

They kind of grinned and nodded a little and everybody on my boat groaned. My adult son looked at me and said, “Geeze dad, are you trying to be Brad?”

    There you go.

    • notamobster says:

      Oh, the adults among us…

The white whale only exists in the mind of angry, raciss white folk.

You’re obviously projecting your white, educated, presumptuous, racissness upon the truly lettered among us. Knock that shit off dude. You’re making us look bad.

    • MadBrad says:

Wow. I’m flattered. My name is spoken in places I’ve never been. All that is required is that someone be intoxicated and seemingly in search of large mammalian life forms. I wish I could have been there.

      • R.D. Walker says:

Brad has attained somewhat of a mythical stature in the Walker family. We often discuss the great, drunken quest for the chocolate malted in Savannah, Georgia.

This isn’t the hippy dinghy in question, but it was taken the same day. It will give you a visual image of the event. Click to enlarge.

DEVINE: The media back then weren’t far left but they were progressive. It was center-line progressivism. But on the other hand, even Obama, he isn’t a communist or something, he’s a progressive. He’s a left-leaning progressive but he’s still a progressive. I mean they all bought this idea that what you need to do to fix society and to make it work is to centralize power and hand over the running of things to the experts. That is progressivism at its core and it now dominates both parties to this very day. The last Republican president was a guilty of it as Obama is. The only ones who weren’t were Reagan, Harding, and Coolidge.

      • Van-a-gram says:

The story I heard about this scene was that Harrison Ford was suffering from bad stomach bug (i.e. the runs) during shoot. They had to do several takes and he had to, well, “go”. So instead of going through the long original fight scene again, he pulled his pistol and shot the guy, and walked off set to find the facilities. They found that so funny they incorporated it into the final version.

Each time the lights would go out, the place would erupt into cheers.
However, when the revelers saw the nun,the room went dead silent. She walked
Up to the bartender, and asked, ‘May I please use the restroom?

The bartender replied, ‘OK, but I should warn you that there is a statue of

‘Well, in that case, I’ll just look the other way,’ said the nun.

So the bartender showed the nun to the back of the restaurant.
After a few minutes, she came back out, and the whole place stopped just
Long enough to give the nun a loud round of applause.
She went to the bartender and said, ‘Sir, I don’t understand. Why did they applaud for me just because I went to the restroom?’
‘Well, now they know you’re one of us,’ said the bartender,’Would you like a drink?’
‘No thank you, but, I still don’t understand,’ said the puzzled nun.
‘You see,’ laughed the bartender, ‘every time someone lifts the fig leaf on

Well the title is off topic so food for thought.

I spoke with a young marine lance corporal last night. He told me he has been asked several times in the last few months in battalions level meetings if they would fire on civilian population in the USA.
He also said they had been asked about firng on other branches of service.
He also related about recent redeployment and holding armored equipment at different locations across conus.
This kid was hometown boy, previously in the explorer program. Been in marines just a year or so. No reason to make that stuff up.

i’ve been tellin ya RJ, the feds are preparing for a civil war. if the SHTF in a big way because of the enormous intl banking and debt stresses damn near anything is possible. little hhas been done to correct the trajectory of economic collapse. its as if the world thhinks not LOOKING at the problems will fix them. divert, delay, repeat.
the divisions in America are being aggravared deliberately as more and more of us learn the truth.
the Feds are openly displaying their enemey : free people

    • notamobster says:

Did he elaborate on why, or the circumstances posed when asking the question?

      • rj says:

Did not elaborate, on overall type of meetings just the show of hands type question in big meetings/briefings didn’t have time to expand with him. He seriously seemed bothered by it.

    • reboot says:

I’ll take that with a grain of salt.

    • R.D. Walker says:

Okay, what if the Administration is concerned that the US Military is going to follow the lead of the Egyptian Military and they are trying to find out what appetite American soldiers have for treating them like the Muslim Brotherhood? In other words, maybe when they are asking them if they would shoot fellow Americans they are hoping like hell the answer is no.

      • notamobster says:

What if Barry really has America’s best interest at heart and truly believes in capitalism, and unicorns live in an enchanted forest, under a rock candy mountain with chocolate waterfalls?

I’m not saying I believe that this young man was asked directly if he’d shoot Americans, but I wouldn’t put it past ol’ jug ears, either.

I saw a picture yesterday from a Marine who said he’d kill anyone he was ordered to kill. He said Syria, A-stan, Mexico, Canada, Arizona… The disturbing thing was all of the comments from other Marines, agreeing with him.

        • RJ says:

WTF? could this be a disinformation campaign (for lack of better term) meant to gin up support for a future conus deployments of hardened combat troops who will do as they are told with no thought.

Or could it be foreign infiltration (electronic) that shirt looks empty and on a hanger, and I dont know if the ribbons support his claim of deployments.
Times and training techniques have changed, is it possible that military units deployed in the states would act against local civilian protest?
Very possible, I believe unit, corp, country self still stands prime.

        • R.D. Walker says:

I didn’t mean it as any sort of defense of the Administration. National leaders fearing a military coup would likely want to poll the troops to take their temperature on the whole thing. In other words, how reliable are the troops?

That said, I think this is all borderline tinfoil hat stuff.

          • RJ says:

RD I didn’t think you were defending the administration, and it may well be tinfoil hat wearing stuff.

That being said the young troop had no reason to lie or be disingenuinous with me.
He was concerned and wondered why they were asking the questions.
I just wish I’d had time to explore the totality of the circumstances he was asked the questions.

            strange times indeed.

      • RJ says:

There has sure been a lot of high end military leadership let go over the last few years, could be a part of it?

Im not big on conspiracy but my big question is why in the hell would any military command feel the need to ask that question unless they want to get a feel for how willing the ground pounders would be to follow those orders or go against them ?

Followed by are they hoping for hell no we won’t or yea we will.

The kid in question said he figured hell no unless he was deployed and shot at first!

Some kind of civil disturbance, a few units depolyed in stratigic locations to quell unrest, shots fired by someone and all hell breaks loose.

  29. Jim22 says:

George W Bush and Barack Obama somehow ended up at the same barber shop. As they sat there, each being worked on by a different barber, not a word was spoken.

The barbers were even afraid to start a conversation, for fear it would turn to politics. As the barbers finished their shaves, the one who had Obama in his chair reached for the aftershave. Obama was quick to stop him saying, “No thanks, my wife Michelle will smell that and think I’ve been in a whorehouse.”

The second barber turned to Bush and said, “How about you sir?” Bush replied, “Go ahead; my wife doesn’t know what the inside of a whorehouse smells like.”
