    • R.D. Walker says:

I just read that Takei and his family were relocated from California to Arkansas during WWII and forced to live in one of FDR’s internment camps. Didn’t know that…

    AR-15 M4 .223 Rem 16″ Barrel 30 Rnd Carbine Rifle by MMC – $499.99 ($475 each if you buy 5 or more)

      From the comments:

it is a 1/9 twist. the last time i went to the range the poor smuck next to me had one. It couldn’t get thru a 30 round pmag without multiple failures. I even gave the guy a spare o-ring from a bcm bolt . No dice. the lower was so out of spec none of the 4 uppers i brought would fit. If you want to go inexpensive and have a rifle that works go with a delton, jsesurplus or even dsa. If you want to go cheap and have a rifle that doesn’t work go with a moore’s machine company.

If you’re going cheap, build your own… If you want baseline, with reliability assured, save a few months longer and go with a Bushmaster, DPMS, or similar. Rock River makes a solid rifle. POF is phenomenal. I’m Just saying.

This holiday season is a great time to support your local gun store.

Give yourself a gift of a new firearm or for your relatives and friends give the gift that shares American diplomacy, ammunition! And for those that are serious, give the gift of reloading supplies!

        • Ray Davies says:

Got to agree RJM, We have to get out and burb some of this American Product one of these warm day. Mr Walker, you are always invited.

        • Jim22 says:

There is some truth in that adage but… There are two kinds of guns. One is for defense and the other is for bringing in some meat. I think it may be time to hide the second group – along with some ammo.

    • reboot says:

      Hehe, that is funny. Fock’em.

      • notamobster says:

They have to replace me. That’s for sure.

        • reboot says:

Nota, I haven’t found anything I want from them yet that I can’t get somewhere else cheaper. Send me a primer on the difference between .223 and 5.56 Nato AR’s please. I don’t randomly buy long arms and know nothing other than operations of a M-16A1 used by the USN the last few years I was in.

          • RJ says:

The best info I can give you is the 5.56 chamber will definately take a commercially loaded .223 remington round with maybe a slight loss of accuracy over firing the .223 round in a .223 only chamber.

On the opposite side a .223 only chamber may cause high chamber pressures if firing 5.56 nato spec ammo.

it is primarily caused by a variance in distance from the case mouth to the beginning of rifling in the barrel.

In a zombie pockylips any “liberated” ammo will likely be 5.56 nato and not .223 remington.

my current pistol and rifle are both 5.56 nato due to zombie pockylips ammo availability and the desire to not have a potential blow up of a zombie pockylips self defense weapon.

I have seen a blown up AR due to failure caused by a squib, result was spectular, too high of chamber pressure is not your friend.

            • R.D. Walker says:

Yeah, 1:12 barrel twist on my 1981 model year Colt SP-1 pretty much limits me to 55 gr. .223.

              • Uke says:

That barrel twist limits you to 55gr for sure, but are you sure about the .223 part? I’m almost positive that all the early model Colt ARs were chambered and built to military specs, meaning 5.56 instead of .223.

Clearly I don’t know your baby better than you do; I’m just speaking generally about Colt ARs.

                Related, .223vs5.56, click to embiggenate:

              • R.D. Walker says:

Yeah, I don’t know. I have always shot .223 but, now that you mention it, I can’t remember how I started. It might have been the only thing I could get back in 1986.

            • reboot says:

Confirms, IF I want one, I’m gonna have a lot of reading to do. I can’t have a weapon and not know how to really fark with it. My heavily modified 1911 is witness to that.

No freakin’ way!! It saddens me that even Pabst is being Made in China. That is NOT the original PBR, however. I bet Pabst sold all their machinery to China, and the Chinese never bother to change the silkscreen device to label their cans, just the dyes.

      • Locke n Load says:

dude, I made a mistake once and got crammed onto that bridge.. and headed into the Bronx. $56 only 4 yrs ago, each way. At the end of the bridge were NYPD lined up to pull over every truck unlucky enough to be in the wrong exit lane and headed onto anything other than a truck route. Fines were $500, assuming they didn’t want to double fist ya and pull a BS revenue generation DOT ‘inspection’.
Again, let the fuckers starve, I HATE NYC and that damned island, every last inch of it. Cost me $112 to pull a U-turn. Nice.
