    Sean Penn.

First Amendment be damned . . . If Oscar-winning actor Sean Penn had his way, any journalist who called Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez a dictator would quickly find himself behind bars.

Penn, appearing on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher” on Friday, defended Chavez during a segment in which he detailed his work with the JP Haitian Relief Organization, which he co-founded.

“Every day, this elected leader is called a dictator here, and we just accept it, and accept it” said Penn, winner of two Best Actor Academy Awards. “And this is mainstream media, who should — truly, there should be a bar by which one goes to prison for these kinds of lies.”

It was just the beginning of a busy weekend for Penn. When asked on CBS’ “Sunday Morning” about those who question his motives for his humanitarian work in Haiti, he said:

“Do I hope that those people die screaming of rectal cancer? Yeah. You know, but I’m not going to spend a lot of energy on it.”

    Edmund G. (Jerry) Brown

Gov. Moonbeam and Reverend Jim Jones

We asked for it, got it, and didn’t use it. R.D. had to start it off for us. Well, I will use it.

I’d post a neato photo or something but have still not figured out how to do that in a comment. I see that it’s possible because it keeps happening. Oh, well.

My candidate is Edmund G. (Jerry) Brown, former governor of California.

Jerry was born in San Francisco and in 1958 entered the Sacred Heart Noviate with plans to become a priest. He became disenchanted with Catholicism, dropped out and entered the UC Berkely and got a bachelor’s degree in classics.

He then grew a beard and traveled to Japan to study Buddhism, to Mexico to study Spanish, and to India to work with Mother Teresa.

He got a law degree from Yale and, after a couple tries, passed the bar exam. He was elected Attorney General of California in 2006.

“Governor Moonbeam” refused to defend Proposition 8, the statewide initiative barring gays and lesbians from marrying.

He wants to take over as governor of California but his plan consists of “..fixing the state I love”.

    Eve Ensler

Left-wing playwright Eve Ensler is best known for her boring and vulgar Vagina Monologues.

Ensler is pals with Grandma Moonbat Hanoi Jane Fonda and has written an off-Broadway in which soldiers in Iraq are depicted as mentally disturbed torturers.

Here she is with fellow moonbat Joy Beher hacking on Sarah Palin.

Or: In 1950, two Puerto Rican pro-independence activists, Oscar Collazo and Griselio Torresola, attempted to kill Harry S. Truman. Torresola was a bodyguard for Puerto Rican Nationalist Party leader, Pedro Albizu Campos.
After Albizu’s death in 1965, the party split, and some factions opted to join with socialist movements. The vast majority of followers of independence movements in Puerto Rico belong to either the Puerto Rican Independence Party (PIP) or the Puerto Rican Socialist Party (PSP).

How about Richard Lawrence (tried to kill Andrew Jackson – two misfires of his flintlocks – then Ol’ Hickory beat him down with a cane)
Richard Lawrence (1800? – June 13, 1861) is the first known person to attempt to assassinate an American President. By the time he reached adulthood he was considered mentally ill.
Lawrence worked as a painter and there is speculation that exposure to the chemicals in his paints may have contributed to his derangement. By the early 1830s he was unemployed and had succumbed to the delusion that he was King Richard III of England.
His personality changed dramatically around this point. He was previously conservatively dressed, but now he dressed flamboyantly, and grew a mustache. He gave up his job, saying that he had no need to work as the American government owed him a large sum of money
There is no reference to his politics, but with a pedigree of “mental illness, flamboyant dresser, unemployed because the government owed him money” — I’m almost certain he was a liberal!

    Ward Churchill

Ward Churchill-Fake Native American his take on the September 11 attacks if you can stomach it.

In 2005, the Denver Post reported that Churchill’s military records show he was trained as a projectionist and light truck driver, but they do not reflect paratrooper school or LRRP training.[9][12] The 75th Ranger Regiment Association found no record of Churchill having been a member of a LRRP team.[13]
