They sell just about anything on them internets nowadays, don’t they.
Kinda like Sea Monkeys for the warped and twisted.
The photo is of a coconut crab like they have in the Marianas Islands including Guam. I never saw one that large but maybe half that size. Mostly you would see them at road side stands that are just like sweet corn stands in Iowa. A pickup truck, a lawn chair, an awning and goods for sale. Rather than sweet corn, however, coconut crabs were the fare. They are good eating.

I may not be expert in seafood, but those look a damn sight easier to eat than the litle Blue crabs. All work, no pay if you ask me. My wife and I get a dozen or so live crabs whenever we hit the asian markets because the kids like ‘em so much. Me, eh. Too much work involved in the little critters.
They are land crabs too. You set traps and catch them in five gallon buckets. Problem is, they are getting rare. No big ones left on Guam. The take years and years to get huge. You have to go to the uninhabited islands for the big ones. You know what that means: $$$
Yikes. Sounds to me like a business opportunity! Crab Farm! Sounds a lot better than a Snake Farm, doesn’t it?
I don’t know if you’re a Sushi fan but my favorite is Hamachi. Apparently a lot of other folks like it too as a guy has set up a crazy offshore farm near Hawaii to raise the fish. Wish I could find a story on it, but the idea is simple..he has ginormous nets out floating in the sea with JUST the hamachi being raised in there. Prices for the fish were dropping in Hawaii and on the coast since his little enterprise started 5 years ago or so.
Arrghh. time to get on the road. Winnipeg. Bah
I had no idea that land crabs were edible. I don’t know why I would think that, other than my knowledge of crabs tells me that they need to be in water to eliminate waste. I know they have to be full of meat but they just looked too scary for me to mess with. I guess I’ve watched too many Starship Troopers episodes.
Blue Crabs require more work to eat than they do to catch. Any time I’ve worked a Blue Crab boat in the river we usually catch a little over 700 pounds in four hours. Large males sell for $14.00 a dozen, medium males & females go for $12.00 a dozen and smalls go at $9.00 a dozen. Smalls are almost always used as bait.
Roughly every seven years the Blue Crab catch drops off to almost non-existent. This is typically preceeded by a year when you catch so many you can’t sell them all. Any huge change in supply creates problems for commercial fishermen. This year is the year when production is nearly non-existent. A friend of mine pulled 65 traps and cought two dozen crabs last week. It would have been more productive for him to have played the Lottery that day, at least he would have had a chance at making money.
With several mechanical crab traps and bait (Chicken necks or Pogies) you could catch several dozen Blue Crabs in a few hours, if you are in a good spot. It’s a lot of work to boil and pick those things but you can eventually accumulate enough meat to go into a soup or gumbo and contribute some flavor.
I must add at this point that the loss of Crab harvest and the new federal regulations on fishing are beginning to cause unrest among the Obama constituency. If the oil slick hits the Gulf Stream and comes up the East Coast, urban areas in Florida may become scenes of incredible violence.

So I went to Arizona this weekend. Not to protest SB1070, but to hang out with some old friends, play golf, and drink beer. Here’s the bitch about my trip though; they don’t have Pabst ANYWHERE in Arizona apparently. Still, I managed to drink about a thousand beers, mostly budlight, a few Fat tires, and several Sam Adams.
I may protest a return trip to Az until they start stocking the place with ‘Ol Blue Ribbon. I’m gonna write a letter.

The home computer went down last night, probably for the last time. You have no idea how badly this has pissed me off. I thought I had more time. We always think we have more time to prepare for disaster but I suppose there is never enough time.

Bman: The problem with stories like that are the same as the problem with the Truther bullshit. If it were true, there is absolutely, positively no way it could be kept secret. You aren’t going to move 3 or 4 brigades of Russian troops into the United States without involving hundreds and hundreds of people. Conspiracies like that can’t be kept secret. People would be singing like canaries. National Guard commanders aren’t going to secretly agree to suppression duties. The whole thing is, frankly, absurd.

Just in case some of you guys have been wondering why I was MIA on the REVO, I have been of a pussy….(scrub that) wife hunt.
Seriously after a series of failed relationship I have decided to try online dating for the first time in my life and its a hell of an experience, talk about swimming in shark infested wates.
For a start I get a constant stream of replies from ladies all around the world (most are not my type) but I promise myself to reply to each and everyone and that has taken up all my time.
During that period I have had all kinds of con-men and women attempt to scam me, and one in the Phillipines damn near almost got me on a plane to her, until I realised she too was just a f—ing scam.
I have had some Russian babes, Colombian, Dominican, and Latino babes amongs the Asian and even to my surprise Arabic babes (well sort of).
I promised myself I will get married on the next “Blue-Moon” but as that wont be until Aug 2012, I dont think I will be waiting around that long.
On the other hand if you know some really good woman out there, who wants to be love with all my heart and soul….hook me up!
Anyway, thats what I have been up to. I even saw a couple of smoking hot ex-military babes, once the fatigues came off, wow! (I thought of Madbrad, a perfect match).
So yeah, thats where I have been and will be for a little while longer until this mission ends.
Hopefully soon I will have some good tidings.

I would be careful about making expectations to yourself about setting a timeline when you will get married. It is my belief getting married for the sake of getting married could be a recipe for disaster. Personally, I believe one would have better luck going to the bar, finding a slut, trying to make her an honest woman, and having more success than getting married just for the sake of it.
From your posts here, you seem like an an intelligent guy, and have a lot to offer a lucky lady. I hear a lot of folks have success in the online dating world and I wish you luck. If you ever find a date, my advice is to go into it with zero expectations. If ya hit it off, great! If not, next! Just my two cents.

As for my Online Dating, I’d say at least half the online profiles are fake. It makes it real hell for the other half of genuine people trying to find true love, because they cant be open and honest and let love flow as it should.
Imagine Fillipino, Russian and Latina babes in their 20′s sending me all these damn near explict photos and professing their deep love after a few emails. A weaker man could easily fool himself these women, more than half his age are really in love with him.
I used to cuss and get angry with the scammers at the begining but now I just play along with the game and waste their time (and mine too I guess). At least I have got some intresting photos out of it if nothing else.
Its a really awful job, sifting the wheat from the shaft, but I have got to do it, I guess.
