Yeah, those were the days when GIJoe was shipped with toy guns and knives.

Now they ship with a sensitivity training DVD and the first issue of OutServ.

Then the system took a shit.

  4. notamobster says:

I co-opted the OutServ thing. Hope you saw that.

    Yes, that was good.

ELGIN, SC (WIS) – A missing 2-year-old boy in Elgin was found Saturday morning after Kershaw County deputies say the family dog kept him warm and safe all night.

Sheriff Jim Matthews said 22-month-old Tyler Jacobson was reunited with his family after he was found across the street behind a neighbor’s home when someone reported hearing crying in the area.

Tyler was reported missing around 8:00pm Friday from a residence on Ashley Creek Drive. Matthews said the boy’s mother, 25-year-old Jacklyn Marie Jacobson, and her boyfriend Jose Gloria told investigators Tyler went to get some juice and didn’t come back.

Kershaw County deputies used a bloodhound tracking team and a SLED helicopter with infrared capabilities, but called the search off around 12:30am Saturday. The search resumed around 7:45am, and the boy was found shortly thereafter. “Just thinking that a dog would watch a baby over the night, it’s kind of like a movie instead of real life,” said Emily DuBose, who lives in the house outside which the baby was found.

The dog was a bit more responsible than mom and boyfriend too.

Hmmm, looks like a rivalry of some sort is heating up!

  13. R.D. Walker says:

My minions scramble, each fighting for the glory to be had for his name appearing near to mine! Good. Good. Tis good to be king!

  14. MadBrad says:

Just jookin’ him. I wanted him to get a taste of what it’s like to be seated at the right hand of the throne and then know how quickly the seat can be reserved for another. Do not see my works as motivated out of juvenile impulses. I just enjoy tweaking someone for he sheer juvenile enjoyment of it.

I compete only for things I MUST compete for. All else is Vanity. Yes, I’ve been reading Ecclesiastes again.

  15. MadBrad says:

My content is hit or miss. I wish I could get back to the days when I did more writing. The struggle to survive leaves little time for that.

Now then, I just had an interesting conversation that offers hope that I could very easily find the financial security I am looking for and I don’t even have to break the Law in order to have it. Wow, lucky me. Pardon me for being underwhelmed. I’ll write about THAT. Maybe it will help get me back in the groove of actually writing.

  16. MadBrad says:

Notice how it’s done folks. I only want to be ONE up! That right there is enough to drive someone INSANE!

As is my modus operandi more often than not, I will now veer wildly onto a tangent in a thread full of tangents. (It’s the curse of a grasshopper mind):

What about a meet-up location for the Fiesta? I need to book lodging as close to it as humanly possible. In fact, it’d be nice if it were within walking distance. Anyone who has ever driven with me in a large city I’m totally unfamiliar with, especially at night, will confirm that I am a danger to myself and others in such circumstances.

If I wait much longer, hotel choice and space will be very limited if not sold out entirely, and I’m not about to sleep in my car in the middle of Memphis. Can aid be rendered via e-mail to this damsel in distress? Eternal thanks! :D

  19. R.D. Walker says:

Sorry. It will be on Beale Street. Here is a map.

  20. Air Force Brat says:

Okay, got it. Many thanks. One more silly question, please bear with me: So has any particular venue on Beale selected? Or is it still a little early decision-wise?

  21. R.D. Walker says:

I sent out an email to those who have stated an interest in Memphis. It contains a password you will need to access password protected posts coming up.

If I missed you, I apologize. Please email me from the address you registered with and mention your Revo handle and I will give you the password.

I despise pop culture, thus I am going to mock it and further this retarded girls career by posting the video here. She does not sing well. I just heard about it on the news. I looked up the video and it had 83 million views on youtube. I clicked on the comments “auto update” and have never seen so many comments to anything…streaming so fast you can’t even read them.

    This is absolutely insane!!!

    google: “Rebecca Black – Friday”

  24. R.D. Walker says:

    I looked up the lyrics.

    Kickin’ in the front seat
    Sittin’ in the back seat
    Gotta make my mind up
    Which seat can I take?

    And…

    Yesterday was Thursday, Thursday
    Today i-is Friday, Friday (Partyin’)
    We-we-we so excited

    Inspired.

  25. notamobster says:

The comments were literally coming and going so fast that I couldn’t read them. I’d catch one random comment every 10 seconds. That’s is some wierd shit to experience. Had me laughing pretty hard with some of the crazy shit that would catch my eye.

I realize how incredibly awful it is…that’s why I felt the need to promote and encourage the absurdity.

  26. notamobster says:

Tomorrow is Saturday… Sunday comes afterward!

I met a fairy today that said she would grant me one wish.

“I want to live forever,” I said.

“Sorry,” said the fairy, “I’m not allowed to grant wishes like that!”

“Fine,” I said, “then I want to die after Congress gets their heads out of their asses!”

“You crafty bastard,” said the fairy.

Just busting your balls buddy. :)

  46. Locke n Load says:

Frankly i don’t know where any of them find the time TN. I’ve almlost completely forgotten what its like to have a normal schedule much less anything as easy as a 50 hr workweek. I should unionize myself then sue me for better working conditions

  47. notamobster says:

oh hell yeah. maybe i can get some of that free viagra too. i bet i could make a fortune re-selling it at the truckstops, lol.

  49. notamobster says:

I decided that it’s a pina colada and Jimmy Buffett night! The first two went down like kool-aid.

    mmmmm……….

  50. TN_Cat says:

Since it’s Friday during lent, I’m prepping the Talapia for the grill. Sitting out watching the charcoal burn while drinking a nice cold beer.

    Jesus understands.

  51. notamobster says:

    first five, my bad…

    Good times, TN. Cheers!

  52. TN_Cat says:

I see RD posted this weeks tunes, 1972. Might be a tough one for me. That was the year my Mother started getting sick. Two weeks ago brought back some memories and some emotion. Love these Friday nights though.

  53. Locke n Load says:

you guys are f**king killing me. Fine. I’m setting up the grill, on the beach, on Sunday. Sounds like a swim in the Gulf, grilled prawns, and Margaritas might be my only revenge…

  54. notamobster says:

Good times, Sir! Cheers to you!

  55. slaphappypap says:

It’s 12:35am. Central Time. That is all.

  56. Bman says:

5:07am Central time. Tips were good. Drinks afterwards even better….

  57. notamobster says:

I learned a valuable lesson last night. There’s a reason I don’t drink pina coladas.

It’s too hard to manage how much you’re consuming, because they’re so delicious. Thus, after heaving my guts out, I went to bed at some unknown hour feeling quite uncomfortable. Mrs Nota, of course, was laughing her ass off as she bounced up and down on the bed this morning, torturing me… :-)

  58. Locke n Load says:

I was gonna ask you how your head felt, lol. Coladas are all sugar and rum man, recipe for disaster!

  59. R.D. Walker says:

Yep. I haven’t had a stupid, sloppy drunk or a bad hangover since I started drinking straight whiskey. It is self regulating.

In fact, the last time I got sloppy, stupid drunk was on the 4th of July 2009 when Mad Brad was here in Iowa. We went off to the parade with me carrying a quart container of Canadian Club and limeade. After we walked home, I decided the first was so good I would have another. That was all she wrote.

Brad would have to tell the rest of the story. I can’t remember.

  60. notamobster says:

    Oh, but they’re so delicious…

This is exactly the reason I drink straight liquor. As RD said: “it’s self-regulating.”

  61. notamobster says:

Oh, the joys of drunkeness, fireworks and gasoline.

  62. Air Force Brat says:

Nota — in that case, you must read Chapter 6 of my as-yet-unpublished book. I’ll bring it to the Fiesta. You’ll understand afterward why I can no longer drink whiskey. Such a potentially dreadful event, but funny as hell in retrospect. I also developed a whole new respect for well-timed vomiting.

And that’s all I’m saying for now. You’ll all think I’m some damned weirdo after reading it.

  63. Bman says:

This is dumb but kinda funny I guess

  64. R.D. Walker says:

Spock finally has his tricorder: I just downloaded Google Goggles on my Android. It is giving me the willies.

  65. Locke n Load says:

i had to look that up…wow. very cool app. you’ll have to get tri-corder readings on this when we’re in memphis. curious to see if it directs you to egypt :)

  66. Locke n Load says:

shoot, you can get 2 readings on Brad…pre and post alcohol.

Sensor readings are confusing sir…5 hrs ago this registered as a carbon life form but now it seems to be CH3CH2OH based…

  69. Locke n Load says:

    Bwahahahhaha!
yeah, but tell ya what, I WOULD like that little “bweep echo” sound effect when I opened my phone, lol.

  70. Air Force Brat says:

    I want a tribble!

  71. Locke n Load says:

  72. Air Force Brat says:

  73. notamobster says:

For those of us who aren’t Vulcan (uber-nerds), here is a display of what the hell they’re talking about (I had to look it up) :

  74. sortahwitte says:

Just up finally. Straight line winds(sure) of over 100mph tore through my town last night. Destruction, fires caused by such destruction, trees uprooted, and power poles snapped off. Mrs.witte and I were prepared to head into the bunker. Her with her bag of medicine and make-up; me with my bag of medicine and Mossberg. However, being good Okies, we were watching from the front porch as it passed mostly one half mile to the north. I doubt if our winds got over 70mph. So, we just got power back. Snuff out the candles and Happy Lord’s Day tomorrow.

  75. Locke n Load says:

Holy cow Sorta, glad that didn’t extend 200 miles south, I just replaced my roof last year :) Glad to hear you both escaped harm

  76. notamobster says:

Good to hear you’re back in the 21st century.

  77. Air Force Brat says:

Holy moley, Sortahwitte! Glad all is OK. Had heard about the fierce winds, and wondered how close they were to you. Glad your power is back on also — with the temps already getting “up there”, it’s not the best time to have no AC.

  78. Locke n Load says:

Sorta, heres a little sunday morning dedication for you folks livin in the wind tunnel..

    ——————————————

Well shit. Front page of Drudge is describing a twister that leveled an Iowa town. Nuts.

  79. notamobster says:

Best random phrase heard blurted out in public today in a voice louder than I think she expected(by an old woman who had no idea of the euphemistic nature of her comments)

“I love balls! They’re so fun to play with.”

  80. Locke n Load says:

Old woman hell, stop getting your wife hammered in public :)

  81. notamobster says:

    :-)

I just cracked open my latest book:

“The Audacity of Deceit” by Brad O’Leary will review when I’m finished.

  82. Locke n Load says:

So I’m sitting here listening to Willy sing City of New Orleans. Just cracked a new beer and jammed it into the 20lb bag of ice. XM radio’s Outlaw Country station is on a roll today, every song is pushing me in new directions. Perfect.
    “…Mothers with their babes asleep,
Are rockin’ to the gentle beat
And the rhythm of the rails is all they feel…”

Its been a almost a week since I last saw my girls, healthy and healing. Its just now washing over me…she’s really going to be ok… Ah man, I needed this day off.

So the 2lb bone in garlic crusted Prime ribeye is marinating, the champagne, garlic and chive mushrooms, grilled asparagus, and salad are ready to assemble. Sangria is chilling… I’ve got hours to kill and a mile of beach to walk. Incredibly no other truck drivers know of this sneaky place to park right on the beach in Florida. It never fails, I always have my sunset view :) I’ll fire the grill up later, for now it’s stoopid time. You’ll forgive me if I disappear for a while.
    This is calling me…

Btw, I bet none of you have ever seen THIS.

An albino Mallard. VERY very cool day.
    Cheers!

  83. Locke n Load says:

Oh hey, Brad. Florida girl done good here. Can’t help thinking she’s stolen Dolly Partons voice if not her …um…other assets.

  84. slaphappypap says:

I just busted my *ss using an aerator on my lawn. Just wondering if you “rural folk” do any of this crazy crap. I hope to get my lawn as nice as Comiskey Park’s.

    http://homerepair.about.com/od/yardandgarden/ss/sbs_org_mowing_2.htm

  85. TN_Cat says:

Nice LNL. Enjoy man, you deserve all.

  86. Locke n Load says:

Slap,. no shit idea for you. It might sound stupid BUT….
Do your lawn mowing in GOLF SPIKES. Not the crappy rubber things but the real spikes..If you have any of those old 1/2 inch baseball cleats, those work even better. Every time, no exceptons, and your lawn will be properly aerated AND have mulch driven into the soil every season.

  87. Air Force Brat says:

LnL — that’s a brilliant idea! Might come in handy too when intruders or pesky sales people come to the door. :D

    Enjoy the beach!

  88. Air Force Brat says:

Btw, where IS Brad these past couple of days?

  89. Locke n Load says:

Doin so hun. Almost time to fire up the grill. Sunset means all the locals flee and I have the place to myself. Nothing like a midnight skinny dip to refresh the soul, lmao.
If you’re wondering, I know of this place because its just a mile up the shore from where I used to live in Florida. I used to sail the Cat up here and back to the dock at night while goofin off with the dolphins. I wonder if the bay still has dolphins.. All the old baby conchs seem to have vanished. Still loads of horseshoe crabs at migration time though. You haven’t seen one till you’ve seen a monster 19 inches arcross at the beam.

  90. Locke n Load says:

I think Brad is working a second to afford Memphis.. my guess. He hasn’t answered any of my pages so maybe he’s on the water? Usually the phone lights up if he hears I’m coming to Fl.

  91. sortahwitte says:

LnL, I love that song. Being old, I haven’t even heard of the group. I appreciate you. Sleep tight by the beach.

  92. His Servant says:

Ok, this is way off topic, however humor me and use your imagination. There is an alternate universe and in this alternate universe is Bizarro World and in Bizarro World there is a Bizarro Spock!

  93. Locke n Load says:

thought you might Sorta, being an Oklahoma guy. Spent too many years in the Ks/Ok area not to recognise a sound that would resonate. They’re good musicians btw. It never gets played on the radio but damn can they put on a show. Glad you liked.

His Servant, would Anti-Spock then be the opposite of Logical? Are you saying that Our RD has an inverted doppleganger somewhere? God help us. Actually, I may have met him at the DMV

  94. BrunDawg says:

A warm night in Chicago. Here are the first six headlines on http://www.chicagobreakingnews.com/
    1. Man found beaten to death in Little Village neighborhood
    2. 1 dead, at least 9 wounded in S. Side shootings
    3. 2 shot in Bronzeville neighborhood
    4. Man dies after being shot at South Side red light
    5. 2 kids shot in South Side yard
    6. Chicago school bans packed lunches

Well, at least someone is looking out for the kids.

  95. notamobster says:

No shit, BrunDawg – it’s over 40F… that means it’s time for the retards in Chicago to start killing each other. I almost overlooked it this year.

  96. Bman says:

“6. Chicago school bans packed lunches”

Im more pissed off about that than #1-4 in your headline list

  97. R.D. Walker says:

    It is for the children…

Principal Elsa Carmona said her intention is to protect students from their own unhealthful food choices.

“Nutrition wise, it is better for the children to eat at the school,” Carmona said. “It’s about the nutrition and the excellent quality food that they are able to serve (in the lunchroom). It’s milk versus a Coke. But with allergies and any medical issue, of course, we would make an exception.”

Don’t you know the state knows the needs of your children far better than you? It takes a village to raise a child, you know.

  98. BrunDawg says:

I’m sorry Principal Carmona, my family has dog vomit allergies. That has to be the school’s Freaky Friday Lunch (see the picture in the story).
